Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,441 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 439 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Cessna C172 began with a smooth taxi from the parking area to the runway, taking 8 minutes to cover 2 nm. The departure roll on runway 07 at ETNS Schleswig Air Base was successful, with a takeoff distance of 1,986 ft, which was 25% of the total runway length. The liftoff speed was 76 kn, and the local weather conditions showed a temperature of 60 °F with a 2 kn wind coming from 102 °, resulting in a 1 kn crosswind and 2 kn headwind.
Once airborne, the enroute level cruise started over Selk, lasting 7 minutes and covering 3 nm. The final approach to runway 07 at ETNS Schleswig Air Base was approached from the west, heading 74.0 ° at 1 nm and 348 ft above ground level. The landing on the 8,007 ft runway went smoothly, with a threshold height at 67 ft above ground level and a threshold speed of 56 kn, which was lower than the target, cautioning against stalling. The touchdown distance was good at 1,431 ft, with a touchdown speed of 44 kn and a smooth touchdown rate of -104 ft per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 26 ft from the centerline. The local weather at landing indicated a temperature of 59 °F with a 2 kn wind from 100 °, resulting in a 1 kn crosswind and 1 kn headwind.
The total landing distance was 2,144 ft, which was 27% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 26 ft from the centerline. After landing, the taxi back to the parking area took 3 minutes, covering less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 8 nm, with a duration of 22 minutes and the consumption of 10 lbs of fuel. Overall, the flight was successful with minor alignment issues during landing that could be improved upon in future flights.
