Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,931 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 433 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 01L at ENGM Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, with a takeoff distance of 1,360 meters, which accounted for 38% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 170 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 6°C and wind blowing at 9 knots from a direction of 339°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 7 knots. After departing from Oslo, the aircraft began its enroute climb, which started overhead Gardermoen. The climb took 21 minutes and covered a distance of 129 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,711 feet above sea level to 29,876 feet above sea level, an increase of 28,165 feet.
The enroute descent began 21 miles southwest of Fossbergom, Innlandet, Norway. The descent took 15 minutes and covered a distance of 69 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 29,709 feet above sea level to 1,328 feet above sea level, a decrease of 28,382 feet. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 24 at ENAL Ålesund Airport, Vigra, approaching from the northeast at a heading of 245.0° and at an altitude of 1,274 feet above ground level, 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 24 at ENAL Ålesund Airport, Vigra, was successful, with a runway length of 1,931 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 136 knots. However, the touchdown speed was a little fast at 133 knots, and the touchdown rate was fair at -240 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.1 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 2°C and wind blowing at 12 knots from a direction of 340°, with a crosswind component of 12 knots and a tailwind component of 1 knot.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 206 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 49 minutes. The aircraft used 2,164 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at ENAL Ålesund Airport, Vigra, with a score of 96.9%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north east, heading 245.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,274 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with good threshold height, indicating that the aircraft was properly configured for landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was within the acceptable range at 136 knots. However, the touchdown speed of 133 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have contributed to a fair touchdown rate of -240 feet per minute (fpm). The touchdown distance of 433 meters was also within the acceptable range.
Despite the successful touchdown, the aircraft's runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.1 meters from the centerline. This misalignment was also observed during the runway rollout alignment, where the aircraft was slightly off-center by the same distance. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 2°C and a wind speed of 12 knots from 340°, resulting in a crosswind component of 12 knots and a tailwind component of 1 knot.
The total landing distance of 973 meters was 50% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop within a reasonable distance. Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some minor deviations from the ideal performance, including the slightly fast touchdown speed and the misaligned touchdown and rollout positions.
