Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 8,984 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 726 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 26L at Miami International Airport (KMIA), with a takeoff distance of 6,231 feet, which accounted for 59% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 160 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 79°F temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 111 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the tailwind was also 1 knot. The enroute climb started overhead Virginia Gardens, Florida, where the aircraft ascended from 1,056 feet above sea level to 34,146 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,090 feet in 22 minutes, covering a distance of 130 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began overhead Lake Marian Seaplane Base in Kenansville, Florida, and lasted for 39 minutes, covering a distance of 280 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 7 miles southeast of Rentz, Georgia, where it descended from 33,591 feet above sea level to 5,558 feet above sea level, a decrease of 28,034 feet in 21 minutes, covering a distance of 94 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started again 6 miles west of Porterdale, Georgia, and lasted for 4 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent 3 miles south of Lithonia, Georgia, where it descended from 4,994 feet above sea level to 2,280 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,714 feet in 5 minutes, covering a distance of 11 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 26R at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (KATL) was made from the east, with a heading of 270.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,254 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 26R, which had a length of 8,984 feet. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 123 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 722 feet, and the touchdown speed was 118 knots, which was also good. However, the touchdown rate was very hard at -539 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, but the local weather conditions were different from those at departure, with a temperature of 46°F and a wind speed of 2 knots at 249 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 2,808 feet, which accounted for 31% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 30 feet from the centerline. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 8 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 535 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 112 minutes, with a fuel consumption of 9,507 pounds.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed on runway 26R at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport (KATL) with a score of 94.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 270.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,254 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with good control, and the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 118 knots, which was within the acceptable range.
The touchdown distance of 722 feet was also satisfactory, indicating that the pilot maintained a stable approach and executed a smooth touchdown. However, the touchdown rate was quite hard, at -539 feet per minute (fpm), which may indicate that the pilot could have applied more gentle braking or reverse thrust to reduce the rate of descent.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained a steady course and aligned the aircraft with the centerline of the runway. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 46°F and a wind speed of 2 knots from 249°. The crosswind component was minimal, at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 2 knots.
The total landing distance of 2,808 feet was 31% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's weight and the runway length of 8,984 feet. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 30 feet from the centerline, which may indicate that the pilot could have applied more precise control during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good control and precision during the approach and touchdown phases. However, there is room for improvement in terms of reducing the touchdown rate and maintaining a more precise rollout alignment.
