MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,547 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 223 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A321 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport, taking 9 minutes and covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 17, with the aircraft lifting off after a takeoff distance of 1,681 meters, which was 69% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 160 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time were a temperature of 16°C, with a wind speed of 5 knots at 120 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile south of the airport, rising from an altitude of 1,840 feet above sea level to 34,905 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,064 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 149 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then started overhead Hawkeye Airport in Waterloo, Iowa, lasting 17 minutes and covering 518 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another enroute climb 1 mile southeast of Russellville, Alabama, rising from 34,940 feet to 37,009 feet, an increase of 2,070 feet in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of 88 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then started 2 miles northwest of Calera, Alabama, lasting 14 minutes and covering 427 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent 3 miles southwest of South Venice, Florida, descending from 37,136 feet to 1,303 feet, a decrease of 35,832 feet in 15 minutes, covering a distance of 135 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 09 at Miami International Airport was made from the west, with the aircraft heading 87.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,282 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 09 was successful, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 138 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown distance was 222 meters, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 24°C, with a wind speed of 7 knots at 131 degrees.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking 3 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,327 nautical miles, taking 76 minutes, and the aircraft used 8,117 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 successfully landed at Miami International Airport (KMIA) on runway 09, achieving a high score of 99.3%. The aircraft approached the runway from the west, heading 87.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,282 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height, which is a critical aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was within the acceptable range at 141 knots. However, the touchdown speed of 138 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have resulted in a slightly higher touchdown rate. The touchdown rate of -203 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, indicating that the aircraft touched down with a moderate amount of deceleration.
The landing distance of 1,186 meters, which accounts for 33% of the runway length, was within the acceptable range. The runway length at KMIA is 3,547 meters, providing a sufficient margin for the aircraft to come to a stop. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline at touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 24°C and a wind speed of 7 knots from 131°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was also 5 knots, resulting in a negligible wind effect on the landing. Overall, the landing was considered safe and successful, with the aircraft coming to a stop in a controlled manner.
