MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,037 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 309 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a TBM 850, then departed from runway 08R at EDDM Munich Airport. The takeoff distance was 814 meters, which accounted for 20% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 103 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 270 degrees. There was no crosswind, but a tailwind of 1 knot was present. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting overhead EDDM Munich Airport and rising from an altitude of 1,881 feet above sea level to 3,101 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,220 feet in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise phase began 3 miles west of Freising, lasting 17 minutes and covering a distance of 47 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another enroute climb phase, starting 1 mile south of Dillingen an der Donau and rising from an altitude of 2,997 feet above sea level to 4,004 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,007 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise phase that followed began overhead Medlingen and lasted 6 minutes, covering a distance of 40 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 25 at EDDS Stuttgart Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 257.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,409 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 25, which had a length of 3,037 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was too high at 87 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 309 meters, but the touchdown speed of 77 knots was fast, and the touchdown rate was fair at -268 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 7.2 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 270 degrees. There was no crosswind, but a headwind of 1 knot was present. The total landing distance was 494 meters, which accounted for 16% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 14.0 meters from the centerline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 108 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 36 minutes. The aircraft used a total of -320 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The TBM 850 aircraft successfully landed on runway 25 at EDDS Stuttgart Airport, achieving a score of 92.5%. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 257.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,409 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft successfully touched down on the runway, which has a length of 3,037 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway threshold. However, the threshold speed was too high at 87 knots, suggesting that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to reduce the touchdown speed. The touchdown distance of 309 meters was considered good, indicating that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft's descent.
Despite the good touchdown distance, the touchdown speed of 77 knots was reported as fast, suggesting that the pilot may have been able to reduce the speed further during the flare. The touchdown rate of -268 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, indicating that the pilot had some control over the aircraft's descent rate.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 7.2 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the approach. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°. The crosswind and headwind components were negligible, at 0 and 1 knots respectively.
The total landing distance of 494 meters was 16% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 14.0 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the rollout. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating good control and precision during the approach and touchdown.
