MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
There are several things that can go wrong during the flare, carrying too much speed over the threshold, starting the flare at the wrong height and inconsistent flight control inputs, all contribute to a poor flare resulting in a hard touchdown or a float down the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,793 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 504 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 737-800 taxied from the parking area to runway 03R at LGAV Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport in 4 minutes, covering 1 nm.
The aircraft commenced its departure roll on runway 03R, accelerating over a takeoff distance of 977 m, which represented 26 % of the runway. Liftoff was achieved at 151 kt. Ambient temperature was 33 °C, wind 10 kt from 30°, giving a head-wind component of 9 kt and a cross-wind of 1 kt.
Climb began approximately 1 mile south-west of Artemida (Attica, Greece), with the airplane climbing from 1,244 ft asl to 39,686 ft asl, an increase of 38,441 ft attained in 39 minutes while covering 297 nm.
Level cruise was established 15 miles north-west of Othonoi (Ionian Islands, Greece) and persisted for 135 minutes, during which the aircraft flew 1,016 nm.
Descent commenced 2 miles north of Lege (Pays de la Loire, France), descending from 40,000 ft asl to 1,995 ft asl, a loss of 38,005 ft accomplished in 23 minutes and covering 141 nm.
A brief level cruise followed, beginning 1 mile west of Plouneour-Menez (Bretagne, France), lasting 5 minutes and spanning 17 nm.
The final approach to runway 25L at LFRB Brest Bretagne Airport was flown from the east on a heading of 251.0°, at 4 nm and 1,282 ft agl.
Landing was executed on runway 25L, whose total length is 2,793 m. The threshold speed was recorded at 141 kt, and touchdown occurred 87 m beyond the designated touchdown zone with a speed of 130 kt, a vertical speed of minus 247 fpm, and alignment described as very good. Local temperature was 23 °C, wind 4 kt from 300°, providing a head-wind component of 3 kt and a cross-wind of 3 kt. The total landing distance measured 1,016 m, representing 36 % of the runway.
Runway rollout alignment remained very good throughout the deceleration phase.
After exiting the runway, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in 1 minute, covering less than 1 nm.
Overall, the flight covered 1,479 nm, required 209 minutes of elapsed time, and consumed 9,310 kg of fuel.
The Boeing 737-800 conducted the final approach to runway 25L at LFRB Brest Bretagne Airport from the east, tracking a heading of 251.0° at 4 nm and 1,282 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits.
At threshold the height was good and the threshold speed was well above target at 141 kt. Local weather was 23 °C with wind 4 kt from 300°, including a 3 kt crosswind and a 3 kt headwind.
Touchdown occurred 87 m beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 130 kt described as a little fast and a touchdown rate rated fair at minus 247 fpm. Runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The total landing distance was 1,016 m, representing 36 % of the 2,793 m runway, and rollout alignment was very good.
Maintain the excellent stabilised approach while refining speed management to bring the threshold speed closer to the target and reduce touchdown speed slightly toward VREF, which will further optimise the landing envelope.
