MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,169 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 515 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-900, then departed from runway 03 at Hasanuddin International Airport (WAAA) in Ujung Pandang, Indonesia. The takeoff distance was 1,682 meters, which accounted for 52% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 157 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 29 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 2 knots at 90 degrees. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the headwind was 1 knot. After departing from WAAA, the aircraft began its enroute climb, which started overhead the airport and took the aircraft up to a height of 36,885 feet above sea level. This climb covered a distance of 179 nautical miles and took 32 minutes, with the aircraft increasing its altitude by 35,837 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 71 miles south of Betoambari Airport (WAWB) in Bau Bau, Indonesia. This phase lasted for 220 minutes and covered a distance of 1,456 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 2 miles west of Kondaparinga (YKPI) in Queensland, Australia. The descent took the aircraft down from a height of 36,681 feet to 1,270 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,411 feet in just 11 minutes, covering a distance of 62 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 33 at Cairns International Airport (YBCS) was made from the southeast, with the aircraft heading 336.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,253 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 33, which had a length of 3,169 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 141 knots. The touchdown point was 101 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 129 knots and a touchdown rate of -155 feet per minute, both of which were good. The runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 22 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 6 knots at 150 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the tailwind was 5 knots. The total landing distance was 1,056 meters, which accounted for 33% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took just 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
In total, the flight covered a distance of 1,705 nautical miles and took 240 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 11,460 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-900 aircraft successfully landed at YBCS Cairns International Airport, achieving a high score of 99.2%. The final approach to runway 33 was conducted from the south east, with a heading of 336.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,253 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway, with the threshold height being good. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 141 kt. Despite this, the touchdown point was 101 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 129 kt was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -155 feet per minute was also good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 22°C and a wind speed of 6 kt from a direction of 150°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 kt and a tailwind of 5 kt, which did not significantly impact the landing. The runway length of 3,169 meters was more than sufficient to accommodate the aircraft's landing distance.
The total landing distance of 1,056 meters was 33% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. This indicates that the aircraft was able to touch down and come to a stop quickly, with a perfect runway rollout alignment. Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft was able to come to a stop safely and efficiently.
