Flight Score
Departure
Use smaller, smoother aileron inputs to hold the climb bank angle near wings-level.
What happened: During Climb 3 the bank angle averaged 12°, well beyond a steady wings-level climb.
Watch for: Attitude indicator - bank angle, keeping it close to wings-level through the climb.
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: gear still up and speed above the reference speed.
At the 500 ft gate: gear still up and speed above the reference speed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 12,362 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,487 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking area to the runway, which took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 08 at PADQ Kodiak Airport, with a takeoff distance of 2,698 feet, which accounted for 42% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 148 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 59°F and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 100°. The crosswind component was 1 knot, while the headwind component was 6 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile east of PADQ Kodiak Airport, and climbed from an altitude of 1,035 feet above sea level to 35,345 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,310 feet, in 13 minutes and covering a distance of 56 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 18 miles north of SYB Seal Bay Seaplane Base, and lasted for 7 minutes, covering a distance of 61 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting overhead Kachemak City, and descended from 35,464 feet above sea level to 3,888 feet above sea level, a decrease of 31,576 feet, in 14 minutes and covering a distance of 87 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 13 miles southwest of 6AK5 Fire Island Airport, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 9 miles west of 6AK5 Fire Island Airport, and descended from 3,217 feet above sea level to 1,402 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,815 feet, in 2 minutes and covering a distance of 9 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 07R at PANC Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport was made from the west, with a heading of 90.0°, at an altitude of 1,252 feet above ground level, and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 07R, which had a length of 12,362 feet. The threshold height at 68 feet above ground level was above the target, and the threshold speed was excessively high at 183 knots.
The touchdown point was very long, using more than 50% of the available runway, and the touchdown speed was excessively fast at 181 knots. The touchdown rate was very heavy at -733 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was excessively misaligned by 209 feet from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 72°F and a wind speed of 6 knots from a direction of 339°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the tailwind component was 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 7,722 feet, which accounted for 62% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was excessively misaligned by 209 feet from the centreline. The total flight distance was 227 nautical miles, taking 48 minutes, and the aircraft used 1,587 pounds of fuel.
Aircraft C750 has completed a landing at PANC Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, but the performance was not satisfactory. The final approach was initiated from the west, heading 90.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,252 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft successfully landed on runway 07R, which has a length of 12,362 feet.
However, there were several issues with the landing. The threshold height at 68 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft touched down higher than intended. Furthermore, the threshold speed was excessively high at 183 knots, which is a critical factor in determining the safety and efficiency of the landing. The touchdown point was also very long, using more than 50% of the available runway, which could have resulted in a longer stopping distance.
The touchdown speed of 181 knots was also excessively fast, and the touchdown rate of -733 feet per minute (fpm) was very heavy. This could have put additional stress on the aircraft's landing gear and potentially compromised the safety of the passengers and crew. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was excessively misaligned by 209 feet from the centreline, which could have made it difficult for the aircraft to maintain a stable and controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 72°F and a wind speed of 6 knots from 339°. The crosswind was 5 knots, and the tailwind was 2 knots, which did not appear to have a significant impact on the landing. The total landing distance was 7,722 feet, which is 62% of the available runway. Unfortunately, the runway rollout alignment was also excessively misaligned by 209 feet from the centreline, which could have made it difficult for the aircraft to maintain a stable and controlled roll-out.
Overall, the landing performance of Aircraft C750 at PANC Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport was not satisfactory, and several areas for improvement were identified. These issues need to be addressed to ensure the safety and efficiency of future landings.
