Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,601 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,601 m of the 3,492 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 369 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Varna Airport (LBWN), the Cessna 208B began its journey with a swift taxiing phase, covering less than 1 nm in under 1 minute. As it reached the runway, the aircraft initiated its departure roll on runway 09, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 79 kt. The takeoff distance of 716 m accounted for 29% of the runway length, with a local temperature of 16 °C and a negligible headwind of 1 kt.
As the aircraft climbed away from Varna, it began its enroute climb phase, reaching an altitude of 6,921 ft asl in 6 minutes, covering 15 nm. The climb was followed by a level cruise phase, which lasted 9 minutes and covered 26 nm. The aircraft then initiated another climb phase, this time from 7,114 ft asl to 10,753 ft asl, in just 3 minutes and 9 nm. The enroute descent phase started 23 miles east of Mangalia, with the aircraft descending from 10,971 ft asl to 7,012 ft asl in 3 minutes and 10 nm. The flight continued with multiple level cruise and descent phases, with the aircraft eventually beginning its final approach to runway 18 at Mihail Kogălniceanu International Airport (LRCK).
The final approach was executed from the north, with the aircraft heading 185.0 ° at 4 nm and 1,352 ft agl. The landing was successful, with a touchdown distance of 368 m and a touchdown speed of 61 kt. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also satisfactory. The total landing distance was 2,501 m, accounting for 72% of the runway length. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, covering 1 nm in 5 minutes. The total flight distance was 151 nm, with a flight time of 65 minutes and a fuel consumption of 212 kg.
The final approach to runway 18 at LRCK Mihail Kogălniceanu International Airport from the north was executed with precision, with the aircraft maintaining a heading of 185.0° at 4 nm and 1,352 ft above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with the threshold height at 71 ft above ground level being well above the target, indicating a slightly high approach path. However, the threshold speed of 64 kt was good, demonstrating a well-controlled descent.
As the aircraft touched down on the runway, the touchdown distance of 368 m was within acceptable limits, and the touchdown speed of 61 kt was also good, indicating a smooth and controlled touchdown. The touchdown rate of -393 fpm was firm, but not excessive, suggesting a stable and controlled landing. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, with the aircraft centered on the runway. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15 °C and a wind of 1 kt at 270°, contributed to a relatively calm and stable environment for the landing.
The total landing distance of 2,501 m, which accounted for 72% of the runway length, was within acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, with the aircraft maintaining its centerline alignment throughout the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was satisfactory, with a score of 85.9% reflecting a good performance in terms of approach quality, touchdown characteristics, and rollout alignment.
