MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Keep the back pressure coming once the flare is established, holding the attitude instead of letting the nose drop.
What happened: Sink came back after the flare had arrested it, and that pattern usually carries the touchdown long - here it landed at 643 m against the 457 m aim point.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a steady, shallow rate through the flare with no renewed sink before touchdown
The four classic flare failures feel similar from the cockpit – most of them end in a firm arrival – but they leave different evidence, and two numbers are enough to separate them: how long the flare took (time from 50 ft to touchdown) and how hard the touchdown was. A pitch attitude that decreases in the final half-second, from relaxed back pressure or the thrust-idle pitching moment, puts the nosewheel down first or simultaneously, and most sims will not audibly punish it. Only the trace shows it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,050 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 648 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 737-900 taxied from the parking area to runway 29 at SAEZ Minister Pistarini International Airport in 6 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 29, the aircraft used 1,348 m of runway, representing 41 % of the available length, and lifted off at 156 kt. Ambient conditions were 16 °C with a wind of 6 kt from 270°, a 1 kt cross-wind component and a 6 kt head-wind component.
The climb commenced 1 mile west of SAEZ, with the airplane ascending from 1,040 ft asl to 33,003 ft asl, an increase of 31,962 ft achieved in 20 minutes while covering 140 nm.
Level cruise began 7 nm southeast of Palmitas (Departamento de Soriano, Uruguay) and continued for 96 minutes, during which the flight traversed 906 nm.
Descent was initiated 57 nm southeast of Ilhabela (São Paulo, Brazil), descending from 33,001 ft asl to 1,338 ft asl, a loss of 31,663 ft over 20 minutes and a distance of 132 nm.
The final approach to runway 15 at SBGL Rio Galeão - Tom Jobim International Airport was flown from the northwest on a heading of 126.0°, intercepting the glide path at 4 nm and 1,306 ft agl.
Landing on runway 15 was executed with a threshold speed of 145 kt; touchdown occurred 240 m beyond the touchdown zone at 144 kt, with a vertical speed of minus 250 fpm and a lateral deviation of 6.8 m from the centreline. Local weather reported 26 °C, wind 1 kt from 130°, zero cross-wind and a 1 kt head-wind. The aircraft required a landing roll of 1,306 m, equivalent to 43 % of the runway length.
Runway rollout alignment was noted to be slightly off centreline by 7.9 m as the aircraft decelerated to a stop.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 3 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 1,187 nm, lasted 146 minutes, and consumed 7,020 kg of fuel.
The final approach to runway 15 at SBGL Rio Galeão - Tom Jobim International Airport was flown from the north-west on a heading of 126.0° at 4 nm and 1,306 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits.
At threshold the height was good and the threshold speed was good at 145 kt. The aircraft crossed the runway threshold with a wind of 1 kt from 130°, temperature 26 °C, crosswind 0 kt and headwind 1 kt.
Touchdown occurred 240 m beyond the touchdown zone with a speed of 144 kt, noted as a little fast, and a touchdown rate of minus 250 fpm, rated fair. The touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 6.8 m from the centreline and the total landing distance was 1,306 m, representing 43 % of the 3,050 m runway.
Rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 7.9 m from the centreline.
To refine future landings, aim to reduce touchdown speed marginally to match the target VREF and improve centreline tracking to minimise the 6-8 m offset observed at touchdown and rollout. Maintaining the current stabilised approach will continue to support high overall scores.
