MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,300 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,300 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 320 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a PC-12, then departed from runway 12 at NTTO Hao Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,203 meters, which accounted for 36% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 109 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 22 knots from a direction of 290 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 9 knots and a tailwind of 20 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile south east of NTTO Hao Airport, rising from an altitude of 422 feet above sea level to 10,164 feet above sea level, an increase of 9,742 feet, in just 3 minutes and covering a distance of 12 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 13 miles north west of NTTO Hao Airport and lasted for 16 minutes. During this period, the aircraft covered a distance of 334 nautical miles. The enroute descent began 19 miles east of NTGI Manihi Airport, where the aircraft descended from an altitude of 10,037 feet above sea level to 1,271 feet above sea level, a decrease of 8,766 feet, in 5 minutes and covering a distance of 17 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 22 at NTGI Manihi Airport was made from the north east, with the aircraft heading 236.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,244 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 22 was successful, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 80 knots, which was slightly above the target speed. The touchdown distance was good at 317 meters, and the touchdown rate was excellent at -91 feet per minute.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 310 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 10 knots and a headwind of 3 knots. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 3.1 meters. The total landing distance was 642 meters, which accounted for 49% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took less than 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 369 nautical miles, which was covered in 31 minutes, and the aircraft used 415 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The PC-12 aircraft successfully landed at NTGI Manihi Airport, achieving a high score of 99.2%. The final approach was conducted from the north-east, heading 236.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,244 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 22, which has a length of 1,300 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 87 knots. This indicates that the pilot may have been slightly aggressive in their approach, but it did not significantly impact the overall performance of the landing. The touchdown distance was good at 317 meters, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and the runway length.
However, the touchdown speed of 80 knots was a little fast, which may have contributed to a slightly higher rate of descent. The touchdown rate was excellent at -91 feet per minute (fpm), indicating that the pilot maintained good control of the aircraft during the descent. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach or a minor issue with the aircraft's navigation system.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 27°C and a wind speed of 10 knots at 310°. The crosswind component was 10 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots. These conditions may have presented some challenges for the pilot, but they did not appear to significantly impact the performance of the landing.
The total landing distance was 642 meters, which is 49% of the runway length. This is a reasonable distance, considering the aircraft's size and the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained good control of the aircraft during the rollout phase of the landing. Overall, the PC-12 aircraft performed well during the landing, and the pilot demonstrated good skills and judgment in navigating the aircraft to a safe touchdown.
