Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,150 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 378 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 0.91 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
Aircraft NI22PC departed runway 35 at KANW Ainsworth Regional Airport, a small regional airport in Nebraska, United States. The takeoff roll was uneventful, with the Piper Aerostar 600 accelerating to liftoff speed of 84 kt in a distance of 616 m, which accounted for 29% of the available runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 17 °C and a gentle headwind of 8 kt from a direction of 340 °.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it transitioned into the enroute climb phase, which began overhead KANW Ainsworth Regional Airport. The climb was initiated from an altitude of 3,520 ft asl, and the aircraft successfully reached a height of 2,988 ft asl in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nm. This climb profile demonstrated a respectable rate of ascent, with an increase in altitude of 532 ft. Following the enroute climb, the aircraft began its final approach to runway 35 at KANW Ainsworth Regional Airport, descending from an altitude of 387 ft agl and heading 360.0 ° from a distance of 1 nm.
The landing phase was executed smoothly, with the aircraft touching down on runway 35 at a speed of 70 kt and a distance of 365 m. The touchdown rate was a commendable -117 fpm, indicating a well-controlled descent. Although the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 7.5 m from the centreline, the overall landing performance was satisfactory. The total flight distance was 6 nm, and the aircraft consumed 4 kg of fuel during the 3-minute flight.
The aircraft, NI22PC, commenced its final approach to runway 35 at KANW Ainsworth Regional Airport from the south, aligning with the runway heading of 360.0° at 1 nautical mile and 387 feet above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a good threshold height allowing the pilot to maintain a stable and controlled descent. However, the threshold speed was slightly below the target, registering at 86 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft demonstrated good control, with a touchdown distance of 365 meters and a speed of 70 knots. The touchdown rate was smooth, at -117 feet per minute, indicating a well-executed landing. Although the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 7.5 meters from the centreline, the pilot maintained control throughout the rollout phase. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind of 8 knots at 330°, contributed to a relatively calm landing environment, with a 4-knot crosswind and a 7-knot headwind.
The overall performance of the pilot and the aircraft resulted in a score of 96.5%. While there were some minor deviations from the ideal approach and touchdown, the landing was generally smooth and controlled. The pilot's ability to adapt to the local weather conditions and maintain a stable approach and touchdown was commendable, and the aircraft's performance was satisfactory.
