Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,219 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 301 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A321, then departed from runway 17 at the Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (KMSP). The takeoff distance was 1,516 meters, which accounted for 62% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 151 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius and winds of 12 knots at 120 degrees. The crosswind was 9 knots, while the headwind was 8 knots. After departing from KMSP, the enroute climb started 1 mile south of the airport, with the aircraft climbing from 1,843 feet above sea level to 36,006 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,163 feet in 13 minutes and covering 137 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 6 miles east of Ellsworth, Minnesota, and lasted for 32 minutes, covering a distance of 837 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 11 miles west of the Saint Johns Airport (KTAM) in Arizona, descending from 35,410 feet above sea level to 2,425 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,985 feet in 18 minutes and covering 127 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 26 at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (KPHX) was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 270.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,295 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 26 was successful, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 137 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -204 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at KPHX were characterized by a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and winds of 13 knots at 290 degrees. The crosswind was 5 knots, while the headwind was 12 knots. The total landing distance was 1,261 meters, which accounted for 39% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also very good. After landing, the aircraft took 5 minutes to taxi to the parking, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 1,110 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 79 minutes. The aircraft used 7,530 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 successfully landed at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (KPHX) with a score of 99.6%. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 270.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,295 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on runway 26, which has a length of 3,219 meters.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway. The threshold speed of 141 knots was also within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's ability to manage the aircraft's speed during the landing phase. The touchdown distance of 304 meters was also good, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down within a safe distance from the runway threshold.
However, the touchdown speed of 137 knots was slightly faster than the recommended speed, which may have resulted in a slightly higher touchdown rate of -204 feet per minute (fpm). Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 21°C and a wind speed of 13 knots from 290°. The crosswind component was minimal at 5 knots, while the headwind component was 12 knots, which helped to reduce the aircraft's ground speed and improve the landing performance.
The total landing distance of 1,261 meters was 39% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was executed with precision and safety, and the aircraft was able to come to a stop within a short distance from the runway threshold.
