MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,175 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 61 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Honda HA420 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at EKSB Sønderborg Airport in Denmark. This process took approximately 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 32, with a takeoff distance of 1,222 meters, which accounted for 68% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 121 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started at an altitude of 1,017 feet above sea level and reached a maximum altitude of 40,877 feet, an increase of 39,860 feet in 24 minutes. This climb covered a distance of 106 nautical miles. The enroute climb began 2 miles northwest of EKSB Sønderborg Airport and took the aircraft over various locations in Denmark and Germany, including Lueneburg and Bokensdorf.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, which started overhead Lueneburg and lasted for 7 minutes, covering a distance of 46 nautical miles. This was followed by a descent from 41,012 feet to 2,857 feet in 11 minutes, covering 61 nautical miles. The descent began overhead Bokensdorf and took the aircraft over various locations in Germany, including Aerzen and Bueren.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 1 mile west of Aerzen and lasted for 16 minutes, covering a distance of 40 nautical miles. This was followed by a descent from 2,257 feet to 1,010 feet in 2 minutes, covering 4 nautical miles. The descent began 2 miles west of Bueren and took the aircraft over EDLP Paderborn Lippstadt Airport.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile southwest of EDLP Paderborn Lippstadt Airport and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. This was followed by a climb from 907 feet to 2,842 feet in 2 minutes, covering 5 nautical miles. The climb began 2 miles northeast of EDLP Paderborn Lippstadt Airport.
The aircraft then entered a descent phase, which started overhead EDLR Paderborn-Haxterberg Airfield and took the aircraft to an altitude of 1,901 feet in 2 minutes, covering 3 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 24 at EDLP Paderborn Lippstadt Airport began from the northeast, with the aircraft heading 237.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,214 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 24 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 60 meters and a touchdown speed of 88 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -272 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of -1 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 4 knots at 140 degrees.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking approximately 1 minute and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 278 nautical miles, taking 76 minutes, and the aircraft used 538 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Honda HA420 aircraft successfully landed at EDLP Paderborn Lippstadt Airport, achieving a score of 96.6%. The final approach to runway 24 was initiated from the north east, with a heading of 237.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,214 feet above ground level.
The aircraft's performance during the landing was satisfactory, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 90 knots, which was well below the target speed. However, pilots were advised to exercise caution to avoid stalling the aircraft. The touchdown distance was 60 meters, which was considered good, and the touchdown speed of 88 knots was also within acceptable limits.
Despite a fair touchdown rate of -272 feet per minute, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -1°C and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 140°. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was negligible.
The total landing distance of 1,099 meters was 51% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating good performance in various aspects of the landing.
