Avoid steep turns at low altitude
Below a thousand feet the aeroplane is slow, heavy and close to the ground. A steep turn loses lift, raises the stall speed and flattens the climb just when the gradient matters most. A normal turn on course is a rate one — fifteen degrees or so, twenty-five at the outside, this penalty is to acknowledge when a turn has stopped being a turn and become a manoeuvre.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,695 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 168 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Douglas DC-3 began with a smooth 8-minute taxi from the parking area to the runway at LFPB Paris-Le Bourget Airport. The departure roll from runway 25 covered 1,139 meters, approximately 63% of the runway, before the aircraft took off at a speed of 82 knots. The local weather at departure indicated a temperature of 10°C with a 5-knot wind coming from 258°, resulting in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 5 knots.
Once airborne, the enroute level cruise commenced overhead Dugny in Ile-de-France, France, lasting less than a minute and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The flight proceeded smoothly towards its destination.
The landing took place on runway 22 at LFOP Rouen Vallée de Seine Airport, with a runway length of 1,695 meters. The aircraft's height at threshold was 14 feet above ground level, with a speed of 70 knots. The touchdown occurred 166 meters from the threshold, with a touchdown speed of 66 knots and a vertical speed indicator reading of -149 feet per minute. The local weather at the time of landing showed a temperature of 12°C, with an 11-knot wind coming from 350°, resulting in a crosswind of 9 knots and a tailwind of 7 knots. The total landing distance covered was 1,181 meters, approximately 70% of the runway's length.
