MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 4,996 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the full 4,996 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 801 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Williston Basin International Airport (KXWA) in Williston, North Dakota, the Mooney Ovation M20R aircraft began its takeoff roll on runway 14. The aircraft accelerated to a liftoff speed of 75 kt, achieving liftoff in a distance of 1,323 ft, which represented 18% of the available runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 74 °F and a 30 kt headwind from a direction of 139 °, resulting in a crosswind of 4 kt.
Following a brief enroute level cruise phase, the aircraft initiated its enroute climb, ascending from 2,707 ft to 6,509 ft over a distance of 12 nm in 5 minutes. This climb phase was followed by a prolonged enroute level cruise, which lasted for 682 minutes and covered a distance of 423 nm. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, reducing its altitude from 6,094 ft to 5,491 ft over a distance of 2 nm in 2 minutes. The final approach to runway 35 at Calgary/Springbank Airport (CYBW) was initiated from a distance of 2 nm and an altitude of 531 ft above ground level, with the aircraft heading 328.0 °.
The aircraft landed on runway 35 at CYBW, with a touchdown speed of 82 kt and a touchdown distance of 795 ft, which was slightly above the target. The touchdown rate was firm at -309 fpm, and the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 38 ft from the centreline. The total landing distance was 3,409 ft, representing 68% of the available runway length. Following a 3-minute taxi to the parking area, the aircraft completed its flight, having covered a total distance of 465 nm and consumed 203 lbs of fuel.
The final approach to runway 35 at CYBW Calgary / Springbank Airport from the south was initiated at 2 nm and 531 ft above ground level, heading 328.0°. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a good threshold height achieved. However, the threshold speed was above the target, reaching 90 kt, which may have contributed to a slightly firm touchdown.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was 82 kt, which was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was firm at -309 fpm. The touchdown distance was good at 795 ft, but the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 38 ft from the centreline. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 50 °F and a wind of 9 kt at 300°, resulted in a crosswind of 8 kt and a headwind of 5 kt. The total landing distance was 3,409 ft, which accounted for 68% of the runway length.
During the rollout phase, the aircraft's alignment was misaligned by 58 ft from the centreline, indicating a slight deviation from the desired path. Despite this, the overall landing performance was satisfactory, with a score of 86.0%. The pilot's ability to manage the aircraft's speed and control its descent was evident, but there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and centreline alignment.
