Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,985 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 590 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in question was operated by Vueling, with the aircraft registration EC-MGZ. The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 17 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles.
As the aircraft departed from runway 24L at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, it experienced a takeoff distance of 1,505 meters, which accounted for 57% of the runway. The liftoff speed was recorded at 164 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 9 knots at 200 degrees. The crosswind and headwind components were both 6 knots.
Following the departure, the aircraft initiated an enroute climb, which began approximately 1 mile south-west of LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport. The climb took place from an initial altitude of 992 feet above sea level to a maximum altitude of 27,202 feet above sea level, resulting in an increase of 26,210 feet over a period of 14 minutes and covering a distance of 76 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise phase started 14 miles south of LEDT Deltebre Airport and lasted for 9 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 70 nautical miles. The cruise phase was followed by an enroute descent, which began 1 mile west of Puig and took the aircraft from an altitude of 27,276 feet above sea level to 5,712 feet above sea level, resulting in a decrease of 21,564 feet over a period of 15 minutes and covering a distance of 87 nautical miles.
The aircraft then initiated another enroute level cruise phase, which started 4 miles north of Abanilla and lasted for 2 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 5 nautical miles. This was followed by another enroute descent, which began 2 miles south-east of Alguena and took the aircraft from an altitude of 5,333 feet above sea level to 1,408 feet above sea level, resulting in a decrease of 3,926 feet over a period of 6 minutes and covering a distance of 15 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 10 at LEAL Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport was initiated from the west, with the aircraft heading at 100.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,298 feet above ground level. The landing took place on runway 10, which had a length of 2,985 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed at 149 knots.
The touchdown point was located 182 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 147 knots, which was considered good. However, the touchdown rate was very hard at -504 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 7.4 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 5 knots at 152 degrees. The crosswind and headwind components were 4 and 3 knots, respectively.
The total landing distance was 1,417 meters, which accounted for 47% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 7 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
In summary, the flight covered a total distance of 263 nautical miles, took 65 minutes, and used 2,829 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft, Vueling EC-MGZ, successfully landed at LEAL Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport, scoring 92.0% in the landing assessment. The final approach to runway 10 was initiated from the west, with a heading of 100.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,298 feet above ground level (agl).
The landing was executed on runway 10, which has a length of 2,985 meters. The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 148 kt, coming in at 149 kt. This minor deviation from the target speed did not appear to have a significant impact on the landing.
The touchdown point was located 182 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 147 kt was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down at a safe speed. However, the touchdown rate was very hard, coming in at -504 feet per minute (fpm). This high touchdown rate may indicate that the aircraft was touching down with a significant amount of energy, which could potentially lead to a longer rollout distance.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 7.4 meters from the centerline, which may require some adjustments to the aircraft's alignment during the landing. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were reported as follows: a temperature of 20°C, a wind speed of 5 kt at 152°, with a crosswind of 4 kt and a headwind of 3 kt.
The total landing distance was 1,417 meters, which is 47% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down and stop within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was reported as very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain its alignment during the rollout and come to a stop safely. Overall, the landing was executed safely and efficiently, with only minor deviations from the target parameters.
