MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 152 m above the runway. The 305 m gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,890 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,890 m of the 3,123 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 363 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 09 at EGGD Bristol Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,140 meters, which accounted for 61% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 155 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 18°C temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 269 degrees. The crosswind was negligible, while the tailwind was 2 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Winford, North Somerset, England, where the aircraft climbed from 1,562 feet above sea level to 6,395 feet above sea level, an increase of 4,833 feet in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise then began overhead Paulton, Bath and North East Somerset, England, and lasted for 7 minutes, covering a distance of 31 nautical miles. However, the aircraft soon began another climb, this time from 6,387 feet above sea level to 23,389 feet above sea level, an increase of 17,002 feet in 9 minutes, covering a distance of 54 nautical miles. The climb took place overhead Watchet, Somerset, England.
The enroute level cruise then resumed 5 miles south east of Stoke Fleming, Devon, England, and lasted for 95 minutes, covering a distance of 685 nautical miles. As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent, starting 1 mile north west of Amiaes de Baixo, Distrito de Santarem, Portugal. The descent from 22,981 feet above sea level to 8,192 feet above sea level, a decrease of 14,789 feet in 13 minutes, covered a distance of 62 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise then began again, this time 7 miles south west of Cascais, Distrito de Lisboa, Portugal, and lasted for 6 minutes, covering a distance of 24 nautical miles. However, the aircraft soon began its final descent, starting 7 miles south west of Sesimbra, Distrito de Setubal, Portugal. The descent from 7,846 feet above sea level to 1,641 feet above sea level, a decrease of 6,205 feet in 7 minutes, covered a distance of 21 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 02 at LPPT Humberto Delgado Airport (Lisbon Portela Airport) was made from the south, heading 23.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,281 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 02 was successful, with the touchdown distance being 365 meters, which was good. The touchdown speed was also good at 131 knots, while the touchdown rate was very hard at -505 feet per minute.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 15°C temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 270 degrees, with a crosswind of 2 knots and a tailwind of 1 knot. The total landing distance was 1,809 meters, which accounted for 58% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also very good.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking from the runway, which took 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 894 nautical miles, taking 151 minutes, and the aircraft used 7,010 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at LPPT Humberto Delgado Airport (Lisbon Portela Airport) with a score of 93.4%. The final approach to runway 02 was initiated from the south, with a heading of 23.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,281 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft's approach and landing performance were satisfactory, with a threshold height of 66 feet agl, which was above the target. The threshold speed was also good, at 135 knots. The touchdown distance of 365 meters was within acceptable limits, and the touchdown speed of 131 knots was also good. However, the touchdown rate was very hard, at -505 feet per minute (fpm), which may indicate a slightly aggressive approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 2 knots from 270°. The crosswind component was minimal, at 2 knots, while the tailwind component was 1 knot. These conditions contributed to a smooth and stable approach.
The total landing distance of 1,809 meters was 58% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft was well under control during the landing roll. Overall, the landing performance of the Boeing 737-800 was satisfactory, with a high score and minimal deviations from the target parameters.
