Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,601 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 269 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport, taking approximately 5 minutes to cover a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 04L, with a takeoff distance of 1,026 meters, which is 40% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 138 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 16°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots at 280 degrees. The crosswind was 3 knots, and the tailwind was 2 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport and continued to an altitude of 33,781 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,936 feet in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 61 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began overhead Embrun, France, and lasted for 15 minutes, covering a distance of 285 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent overhead Outarville, France, and descended from 34,011 feet to 1,463 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,547 feet in 15 minutes, covering a distance of 118 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 13 at Caen-Carpiquet Airport was made from the northwest, heading 121.0 degrees at 3 nautical miles and 1,213 feet above ground level. The landing took place on a runway with a length of 1,601 meters, and the threshold height was good. The threshold speed was also good at 125 knots, and the touchdown distance was 269 meters. However, the touchdown speed of 121 knots was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was fair at -251 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.7 meters from the centerline, and the local weather conditions were 14°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots at 19 degrees. The crosswind was 3 knots, and the tailwind was 1 knot. The total landing distance was 882 meters, which is 55% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The flight concluded with the aircraft taxiing to the parking area from the runway, taking approximately 2 minutes to cover a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 470 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 52 minutes. The aircraft used 2,879 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at Caen-Carpiquet Airport, with a final approach score of 98.8%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the north-west, heading 121.0° at a distance of 3 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,213 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was within the acceptable range at 125 knots. However, the touchdown speed of 121 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have contributed to a fair touchdown rate of -251 feet per minute (fpm). The touchdown distance of 269 meters was also within the acceptable range.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 3.7 meters, which may have been due to the pilot's judgment or the aircraft's response to crosswind conditions. The local weather conditions were relatively calm, with a temperature of 14°C, a wind speed of 4 knots at 19°, and a crosswind of 3 knots and a tailwind of 1 knot.
The total landing distance of 882 meters was 55% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the pilot demonstrating good judgment and control of the aircraft. However, there were some minor issues with the touchdown speed and runway alignment, which may be addressed in future training sessions.
