MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,201 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 354 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A320 taxied from the parking area to runway 35R at LIMC Milan Malpensa International Airport, a movement that lasted 8 minutes and covered 2 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 35R, the aircraft accelerated over a distance of 1,903 m, representing 49 % of the runway, and lifted off at 164 kt; ambient conditions were 30 °C with a 2 kt wind from 159°, no cross-wind and a 2 kt tail-wind component.
Climb commenced 1 mile south-west of Casorate Sempione, rising from 1,743 ft asl to 34,977 ft asl-a gain of 33,234 ft-in 21 minutes while covering 136 nm.
Cruise began 1 mile south-west of Utelle in France and continued for 110 minutes, during which the aircraft traversed 738 nm at level flight.
Descent was initiated 4 miles north-west of Monforte, Portugal, descending from 34,459 ft asl to 1,646 ft asl, a loss of 32,812 ft in 18 minutes and covering 83 nm.
The final approach to runway 20 at LPPT Humberto Delgado Airport was flown from the north on a heading of 203.0°, intercepting the glide path at 4 nm and 1,270 ft agl.
Landing on runway 20, whose length is 3,201 m, occurred with a threshold speed slightly above target at 140 kt; touchdown was recorded 357 m down the runway at 136 kt with a firm rate of minus 308 fpm and perfect alignment, while local weather reported 24 °C, a 6 kt wind from 220°, a 2 kt cross-wind and a 5 kt head-wind component.
The rollout distance measured 1,059 m, equivalent to 33 % of the runway, and the aircraft remained aligned perfectly throughout the deceleration phase.
After exiting the runway, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in 3 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 967 nm, required 163 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 6,889 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A320 entered final approach to runway 20 at LPPT Humberto Delgado Airport from the north on a heading of 203.0° at 4 nm and 1,270 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits, and the local weather was 24 °C with wind 6 kt from 220°, a 2 kt cross-wind component and a 5 kt head-wind.
At threshold the aircraft maintained a good threshold height and a threshold speed that was slightly above target at 140 kt. The flare proceeded without noted deviation.
Touchdown occurred 357 m down the runway at a speed of 136 kt, described as a little fast, with a firm touchdown rate of minus 308 fpm and perfect runway alignment.
Rollout continued for a total landing distance of 1,059 m, representing 33 % of the 3,201 m runway, and runway rollout alignment remained perfect.
With a final score of 98.2 % the landing was excellent; refining speed control to achieve the target threshold and touchdown speeds will further reduce the firm touchdown rate and optimise energy management. Maintaining the current flare technique while fine-tuning speed will keep the approach stabilised and the touchdown within the optimal envelope.
