Improve the touchdown
There are several things that can go wrong during the flare, carrying too much speed over the threshold, starting the flare at the wrong height and inconsistent flight control inputs, all contribute to a poor flare resulting in a hard touchdown or a float down the runway.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,039 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 245 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The aircraft taxied from the parking area to runway 10 at SBGL Rio Galeão - Tom Jobim International Airport in 10 minutes, covering 2 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 10, the Boeing 737-900 accelerated to a liftoff speed of 169 kt, using 1,800 m of runway (45 % of runway length). Local weather reported a temperature of 21 °C, wind 5 kt at 129°, with a 4 kt crosswind component and a 3 kt headwind.
The climb commenced 2 miles north east of SBGL, with the aircraft ascending from 1,070 ft asl to 33,112 ft asl, an increase of 32,042 ft achieved in 24 minutes while covering 149 nm.
Cruise began 18 miles west of SNKF Das Bandeirinhas Airport and continued for 42 minutes, during which the flight covered 300 nm at level altitude.
Descent was initiated 10 miles north west of SNDO Ouro Branco Airport, descending from 33,328 ft asl to 4,821 ft asl, a loss of 28,507 ft in 23 minutes and traversing 106 nm.
The final approach to runway 29R at SBBR Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport was flown from the east, on a heading of 266.0°, at 4 nm and 1,337 ft agl.
Landing on runway 29R, which is 3,199 m long, was executed with a threshold speed of 142 kt. Touchdown occurred after 408 m, at a speed of 142 kt, with a hard touchdown rate of minus 421 fpm and a lateral deviation of 4.4 m from the centreline. Local conditions were 24 °C, wind 5 kt at 240°, a 2 kt crosswind and a 5 kt headwind. The total landing distance measured 1,571 m, representing 49 % of the runway.
Runway rollout alignment was reported as very good, completing the landing phase without deviation.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 565nm, lasted 101 minutes, and consumed 5,309 kg of fuel.
The Boeing 737-900 approached runway 29R at SBBR Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport on a final approach from the east, heading 266.0° at 4 nm and 1,337 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits.
During the threshold and flare phase the aircraft displayed a good threshold height and a good threshold speed of 142 kt. Touchdown distance was good at 408 m and touchdown speed remained good at 142 kt.
Touchdown occurred with a hard rate of minus 421 fpm and the touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 4.4 m from the centreline. Total landing distance was 1,571 m, representing 49 % of the 3,199 m runway.
Runway rollout alignment was very good, with the aircraft remaining on centreline throughout the rollout under temperature 24 °C, wind 5 kt from 240°, crosswind 2 kt and headwind 5 kt.
To refine the performance, a slightly shallower flare should be practiced to reduce the hard touchdown rate while preserving the aim point, and attention to maintaining centreline alignment will keep the touchdown point within a few metres of the centreline.
