Avoid steep turns at low altitude
Below a thousand feet the aeroplane is slow, heavy and close to the ground. A steep turn loses lift, raises the stall speed and flattens the climb just when the gradient matters most. A normal turn on course is a rate one — fifteen degrees or so, twenty-five at the outside, this penalty is to acknowledge when a turn has stopped being a turn and become a manoeuvre.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,571 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,571 m of the 4,036 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 513 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Boeing 777-300 began at VTBS Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Thailand. The taxi from the parking area to the runway took 9 minutes to cover 3 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 01L, with a takeoff distance of 833 meters, which was 25% of the total runway length. The liftoff speed was 160 knots. The local weather at the time of departure was 29°C with a light wind of 2 knots coming from 100°, resulting in minimal crosswind and headwind conditions.
Once airborne, the enroute climb started shortly after takeoff, climbing from 1,044 feet above sea level to 2,383 feet, covering a distance of 1 nautical mile in under a minute. The aircraft then went into a level cruise for 2 minutes, covering 7 nautical miles before initiating another climb phase. This climb started 8 miles northeast of the Bang Bo District, with the plane ascending from 2,982 feet to a cruising altitude of 36,950 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 117 nautical miles.
The flight continued in a level cruise for 56 minutes, traveling 451 nautical miles before beginning its descent phase. The descent started 5 miles northwest of Kuala Lipis in Malaysia, gradually descending from 36,960 feet to 1,993 feet over a span of 30 minutes, covering 97 nautical miles. The final approach and landing took place on runway 32R at WMKK Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang. The runway had a length of 4,036 meters, and the aircraft touched down 514 meters from the threshold at a speed of 130 knots. The vertical speed at touchdown was -255 feet per minute.
The total landing distance was 1,491 meters, which was 37% of the runway length. After landing, the taxi from the runway to the parking area took 7 minutes to cover 1 nautical mile. The entire flight covered a total distance of 686 nautical miles, lasted 131 minutes, and consumed 14,048 kilograms of fuel.
