Improve the takeoff
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 557 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 557 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 53 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 29 at EDHS Flugplatz Stade, a small airfield in Germany. The Kodiak 100 aircraft accelerated down the runway, covering a distance of 369 meters, which was 62% of the runway's length. The aircraft lifted off the ground at a speed of 66 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airfield, it encountered a local weather condition of 26°C temperature and a wind of 11 knots from a direction of 115 degrees. The crosswind component was minimal, at 1 knot, while the tailwind component was 11 knots. The aircraft climbed from an initial altitude of 1,077 feet above sea level to 6,736 feet above sea level, an increase of 5,658 feet, in just 4 minutes. During this time, the aircraft covered a distance of 6 nautical miles.
Once the aircraft reached its cruising altitude, it began a level cruise, flying from 1 mile south of Stade to 1 mile east of Haseldorf. This leg of the flight lasted 9 minutes and covered a distance of 29 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting overhead the town of Traventhal. The descent from 6,735 feet above sea level to 465 feet above sea level, a decrease of 6,270 feet, took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 18 nautical miles.
The aircraft then leveled off again, this time overhead the town of Suesel, and remained at this altitude for 2 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The final approach to runway 21 at EDXT Flugplatz Sierksdorf/Hof Altona was made from the north, with the aircraft heading 205.0 degrees at an altitude of 45 feet above ground level.
The landing was made on runway 21, which was 557 meters long. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 66 knots. However, the touchdown speed was a little fast at 64 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 51 meters, and the touchdown rate was smooth at -137 feet per minute. Unfortunately, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 11.2 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 24°C temperature and a wind of 7 knots from a direction of 141 degrees. The crosswind component was 7 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots. The total landing distance was 329 meters, which was 59% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.8 meters from the centerline.
In total, the flight covered a distance of 55 nautical miles and lasted 27 minutes. The aircraft used 66 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft in question, a Kodiak 100, successfully landed at EDXT Flugplatz Sierksdorf/Hof Altona, with a final approach score of 90.5%. The pilot executed a precise final approach to runway 21 from the north, maintaining a heading of 205.0° at an altitude of 45 feet above ground level (agl) and 0 nautical miles from the runway.
Upon landing, the pilot demonstrated good control, achieving a threshold speed of 66 knots, which is within the acceptable range. The touchdown distance of 51 meters was also satisfactory, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the touchdown speed of 64 knots was slightly faster than ideal, which may have contributed to a slightly higher rate of descent.
The landing rate was smooth, with a descent rate of -137 feet per minute (fpm), which is within the acceptable range. Unfortunately, the pilot misaligned the aircraft with the runway centerline by 11.2 meters during touchdown, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the final approach or during the landing roll.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 24°C and a gentle wind of 7 knots from 141°. The crosswind component was 7 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots. The total landing distance of 329 meters was 59% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range.
During the rollout, the pilot maintained control, but the aircraft was slightly misaligned with the runway centerline by 8.8 meters. This may have been due to a slight deviation in the landing roll or a failure to correct for the initial misalignment during the rollout. Overall, the landing was satisfactory, with some minor deviations from ideal performance.
