Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 2,198 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,198 m of the 3,290 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 384 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 04 at RPVM Mactan Cebu International Airport. The Airbus A320 took off with a takeoff distance of 1,387 meters, which accounted for 42% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 151 knots, and the aircraft climbed steadily into the air.
As the aircraft climbed, it encountered local weather conditions of 34 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 8 knots at 55 degrees. The crosswind was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind was 8 knots. The enroute climb started approximately 1 mile northeast of the airport, where the aircraft climbed from 1,060 feet above sea level to 4,114 feet above sea level, an increase of 3,054 feet in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
After reaching the desired altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered 7 nautical miles. This cruise phase took place 3 miles southeast of Cordova. The aircraft then began its descent, which started 7 miles south of Cordova. The descent from 4,111 feet above sea level to 2,706 feet above sea level was a decrease of 1,405 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 7 miles southeast of Naga and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 5 nautical miles. Following this, the aircraft began its final descent, which started 2 miles southeast of Talisay. The descent from 2,444 feet above sea level to 1,305 feet above sea level was a decrease of 1,139 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 04 at RPVM Mactan Cebu International Airport was made from the southwest, with a heading of 45.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,268 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with the aircraft touching down on the runway at a speed of 136 knots, which was slightly faster than the target speed. The touchdown distance was 385 meters, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 30 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 9 knots at 57 degrees, with a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 8 knots. The total landing distance was 2,118 meters, which accounted for 64% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled landing. The total flight distance was 32 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 13 minutes. The aircraft used 671 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at RPVM Mactan Cebu International Airport, achieving a score of 96.1%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 45.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,268 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on runway 04, which has a length of 3,290 meters.
The threshold height at 57 feet agl was slightly above the target, indicating a minor deviation from the ideal landing height. However, the threshold speed was satisfactory at 141 knots, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain a stable approach speed. The touchdown distance of 385 meters was also within acceptable limits, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
Despite a slightly fast touchdown speed of 136 knots, the aircraft's landing was generally successful. The touchdown rate of -488 feet per minute (fpm) was considered hard, suggesting that the aircraft may have touched down with a bit too much force. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 30°C and a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 57°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 8 knots. These conditions did not appear to significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance of 2,118 meters was 64% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively, allowing the aircraft to come to a stop without any issues. Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft was brought to a safe stop within a reasonable distance.
