Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,075 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 634 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking to the runway at London Heathrow Airport, taking 7 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 27L, with a takeoff distance of 1,292 meters, which is 39% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 163 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of 20°C temperature and a wind of 15 knots at 200°. The crosswind was 14 knots, and the headwind was 5 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile south of Harmondsworth, where the aircraft climbed from 1,082 feet above sea level to 5,375 feet above sea level, an increase of 4,294 feet in 2 minutes, covering 4 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 1 mile northeast of Virginia Water and lasted 50 minutes, covering 16 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time from 5,723 feet above sea level to 22,360 feet above sea level, an increase of 16,638 feet in 9 minutes, covering 53 nautical miles. The climb took place overhead Coulsdon.
The enroute level cruise started overhead Ash and lasted 5 minutes, covering 37 nautical miles. The aircraft then began a descent from 22,417 feet above sea level to 18,238 feet above sea level, a decrease of 4,179 feet in 7 minutes, covering 25 nautical miles. The descent started 11 miles north of Dunkirk.
The enroute level cruise started 1 mile north of Vladslo and lasted 2 minutes, covering 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then began another descent, this time from 17,509 feet above sea level to 9,674 feet above sea level, a decrease of 7,835 feet in 5 minutes, covering 29 nautical miles. The descent took place overhead Bovekerke.
The enroute level cruise started overhead Bottelare and lasted 2 minutes, covering 8 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another descent, this time from 9,672 feet above sea level to 1,916 feet above sea level, a decrease of 7,756 feet in 9 minutes, covering 36 nautical miles. The descent started overhead Erpe.
The enroute level cruise started 1 mile southeast of Herselt and lasted 4 minutes, covering 13 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 25R at Brussels Airport took place from the northeast, heading 245.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,237 feet above ground level.
The landing took place on runway 25R, which is 3,075 meters long. The threshold height was well above target, and the threshold speed was slightly above target at 136 knots. The touchdown point was 214 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 124 knots, which was good. However, the touchdown rate was hard at -487 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 15.6 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 9°C temperature and a wind of 6 knots at 150°, with a crosswind of 6 knots and a tailwind of 1 knot. The total landing distance was 1,438 meters, which is 47% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 15.0 meters from the centerline.
The taxiing to the parking from the runway took 6 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 228 nautical miles, taking 59 minutes, and the aircraft used 2,024 kilograms of
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed on runway 25R at EBBR Brussels Airport, but the landing was not without its challenges. The final approach was initiated from the north east, heading 245.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,237 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on the runway, but the touchdown point was 214 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot.
The touchdown speed of 124 knots was within the acceptable range, which is a positive aspect of the landing. However, the touchdown rate was hard, at -487 feet per minute (fpm), which may have caused some discomfort for the passengers. The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 15.6 meters from the centerline, which could have been a concern for the pilots.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 9°C and a wind speed of 6 knots from 150°. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the tailwind component was 1 knot. These conditions were not particularly challenging, but they may have contributed to the slight deviations from the intended landing spot.
The total landing distance of 1,438 meters was 47% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 15.0 meters from the centerline, which may have required some corrective action from the pilots.
Overall, the landing was scored 82.6%, indicating a good but not perfect performance. While the touchdown speed and total landing distance were within acceptable ranges, the hard touchdown rate and significant misalignment of the runway touchdown position and runway rollout alignment were areas for improvement.
