MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,266 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 334 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in question began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took 20 minutes and covered a distance of 8 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 15 at SBGL Rio Galeão – Tom Jobim International Airport, with a takeoff distance of 1,496 meters, which accounted for 49% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 201 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 26°C, with a wind speed of 7 knots at 130°. The crosswind was 1 knot, while the headwind was 7 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile southeast of the airport, and climbed from 1,023 feet above sea level to 52,424 feet, an increase of 51,401 feet in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 85 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 40 miles south of Arraial do Cabo and lasted 2 minutes, covering 14 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 53 miles south of Arraial do Cabo, and descended from 52,732 feet to 46,039 feet, a decrease of 6,694 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 39 nautical miles.
The flight continued with multiple enroute level cruises and climbs, with the aircraft reaching altitudes of up to 61,410 feet. The enroute descent started 103 miles southeast of Lagoa, and the aircraft descended from 61,500 feet to 36,919 feet, a decrease of 24,581 feet in 9 minutes, covering a distance of 107 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 11 at SBPA Salgado Filho International Airport was made from the west, with a heading of 91.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,243 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown distance of 335 meters, and a touchdown speed of 170 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was very heavy at -752 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.2 meters from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 21°C, with a wind speed of 3 knots at 70°. The crosswind was 1 knot, while the headwind was 3 knots. The total landing distance was 1,501 meters, which accounted for 66% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.5 meters from the centreline.
The total flight distance was 748 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 81 minutes. The aircraft used 33,136 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Concorde's landing at Salgado Filho International Airport (SBPA) was evaluated with a score of 89.6%. The aircraft approached the runway from the west, heading 91.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,243 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was executed on runway 11, which has a length of 2,266 meters.
The threshold height at 62 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft was slightly higher than desired when reaching the runway threshold. However, the threshold speed was satisfactory at 172 knots, demonstrating that the pilots maintained a suitable speed during the final approach. The touchdown distance of 335 meters was also within acceptable limits.
Despite a touchdown speed of 170 knots, which was slightly faster than desired, the touchdown rate was excessively heavy at -752 feet per minute (fpm). This indicates that the aircraft touched down with a significant amount of force, which could have resulted in a bumpy ride for passengers.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.2 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilots' alignment during the final approach. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 21°C and a gentle headwind of 3 knots at 70°.
The total landing distance of 1,501 meters was 66% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.5 meters from the centerline, indicating that the pilots may have had difficulty maintaining a straight course during the rollout phase.
Overall, while the Concorde's landing at SBPA was satisfactory in many respects, there were some areas for improvement, particularly with regards to the touchdown rate and runway rollout alignment.
