Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,933 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 662 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Cessna Longitude, then departed from runway 15 at VQPR Paro International Airport in Bhutan. The takeoff distance was 895 meters, which accounted for 45% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 127 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 10°C, with a wind speed of 6 knots at 230°.
As the aircraft climbed out of Paro International Airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile southeast of the airport, rising from an altitude of 8,315 feet above sea level to 43,358 feet above sea level. This climb, which covered 47 nautical miles, took 11 minutes and resulted in an increase of 35,043 feet in altitude. The enroute level cruise then started 16 miles southeast of Kalimpong in West Bengal, India, and lasted for 14 minutes, covering 73 nautical miles.
The enroute descent began 11 miles southeast of VNTR Tumling Tar Airport in Nepal and lasted for 29 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from 43,364 feet above sea level to 4,716 feet above sea level. This descent covered 112 nautical miles and resulted in a decrease of 38,648 feet in altitude. The final approach to runway 02 at VNKT Tribhuvan International Airport was made from the south, with a heading of 22.0° at 1 nautical mile and 349 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 02 at VNKT Tribhuvan International Airport was successful, with the touchdown point being 237 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 102 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was perfect at -22 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was also perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 12°C, with a wind speed of 5 knots at 80°.
The total landing distance was 1,414 meters, which accounted for 48% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft was able to taxi to the parking from the runway in just 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 236 nautical miles, and the flight took 62 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 839 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna Longitude successfully landed at VNKT Tribhuvan International Airport, achieving a score of 89.5%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 22.0° at 1 nautical mile and 349 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on runway 02, which has a length of 2,933 meters.
Upon landing, the threshold height was found to be above the target, indicating that the aircraft touched down slightly higher than intended. However, the threshold speed was only slightly above the target at 116 knots, demonstrating good control and management of the aircraft's descent. The touchdown point was 237 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation.
The touchdown speed of 102 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -22 feet per minute (fpm) was perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled landing. The runway touchdown alignment was also perfect, showing that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 12°C and a wind speed of 5 knots at 80°. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 2 knots. These conditions presented a moderate challenge for the pilot, but the aircraft's performance and the pilot's skills were sufficient to handle them.
The total landing distance was 1,414 meters, which is 48% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled and the pilot executed the landing with precision. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, showing that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the rollout phase.
Overall, the Cessna Longitude's landing at VNKT Tribhuvan International Airport was a success, with the aircraft performing well in a variety of conditions. The pilot's skills and the aircraft's capabilities were demonstrated through a smooth and controlled landing, with a score of 89.5%.
