Work on the flare
See Arrival Landing
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,847 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 648 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Düsseldorf Airport (EDDL), the Boeing 737-600 began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took approximately 4 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. As the aircraft lined up on runway 23L, it was cleared for departure, and the takeoff roll commenced. The aircraft accelerated down the 920-meter runway, covering 38% of its length, before lifting off at a speed of 145 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 11°C, with a gentle wind of 2 knots from a direction of 210°.
As the aircraft climbed away from Düsseldorf, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead the airport and continued for 4 minutes, during which time it ascended from 1,033 feet above sea level to 20,015 feet, an increase of 18,982 feet. The climb phase covered a distance of 22 nautical miles. Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered 12 nautical miles, before beginning its descent towards Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (EHAM). The descent phase started 1 mile southeast of Rhede, Germany, and continued for 17 minutes, during which time the aircraft descended from 19,955 feet to 3,322 feet, a decrease of 16,633 feet. The descent phase covered a distance of 85 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, it entered a final level cruise phase, which lasted for 3 minutes and covered 13 nautical miles, before beginning its final descent. The aircraft touched down on runway 18C at EHAM, with a touchdown point located 229 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was slightly higher than the target speed, at 119 knots, but the touchdown rate was good at -185 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took approximately 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 145 nautical miles, and the aircraft used 1,727 kilograms of fuel during the flight, which lasted for 36 minutes.
The Boeing 737-600 touched down on runway 18C at EHAM Amsterdam Airport Schiphol with a score of 97.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 183.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,320 feet above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a good threshold height. However, the threshold speed was above the target, reaching 134 knots, which may have been a result of the 8-knot headwind.
The aircraft touched down 229 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 119 knots, which was slightly faster than desired. Nevertheless, the touchdown rate was good at -185 feet per minute, indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, with the aircraft centered on the runway. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 11°C and a wind of 8 knots at 205°, contributed to a relatively smooth landing.
The total landing distance was 1,052 meters, which accounted for 37% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, with the aircraft maintaining its centerline alignment throughout the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was satisfactory, with some minor deviations from the ideal touchdown speed and distance. However, the pilot's ability to maintain control and alignment throughout the landing sequence was commendable.
