Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,230 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,230 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 90 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Antonov An-2 aircraft departed from runway 18 at EDFB Reichelsheim Airfield, requiring a takeoff distance of 318 meters, which is 26% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was achieved at 61 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 2 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 0 knots from a direction of 338 degrees, resulting in no crosswind or headwind.
After takeoff, the aircraft entered a left-hand pattern, requiring a distance of 1 nautical mile to complete the turn in 41 seconds. The subsequent crosswind turn was also completed in 40 seconds. The downwind turn was executed at an angle of 59.8 degrees to the runway, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. The downwind leg itself took 118 seconds to complete, also covering a distance of 3 nautical miles.
The base leg turn was made at an angle of 49.4 degrees to the runway, again covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. The base leg was completed in 41 seconds, covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The final turn was made in 39 seconds, covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 18 from the north, at a heading of 172.0 degrees and an altitude of 483 feet above ground level, 1 nautical mile from the runway.
The landing on runway 18 was executed with a threshold speed that was well above the target speed of 69 knots. The touchdown distance was good, requiring only 88 meters to come to a stop. However, the touchdown speed of 65 knots was slightly too fast, and the touchdown rate was firm at -399 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 3.7 meters.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 2 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 334 degrees, resulting in a slight tailwind. The total landing distance was 547 meters, which is 44% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating a smooth and controlled landing.
The total flight distance was 12 nautical miles, taking approximately 8 minutes to complete. The aircraft used a total of 29 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Antonov An-2 aircraft successfully landed at EDFB Reichelsheim Airfield, achieving a score of 92.6%. The final approach to runway 18 was initiated from the north, heading 172.0° at 1 nautical mile and 483 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was well-executed, with a good threshold height and a well-above-target threshold speed of 69 knots.
However, there were a few areas for improvement. The touchdown speed of 65 knots was slightly too fast, and the touchdown rate was firm at -399 feet per minute (fpm). Additionally, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.7 meters from the centerline. Despite these minor issues, the touchdown distance of 88 meters was good, and the runway rollout alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 2°C and a wind speed of 1 knot from 334°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind and a slight tailwind of 1 knot. The total landing distance of 547 meters was 44% of the runway length, indicating a safe and controlled landing.
Overall, the Antonov An-2 aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency in landing at EDFB Reichelsheim Airfield, with a score of 92.6%. While there were a few areas for improvement, the aircraft's performance was generally good, and the landing was safe and controlled.
