Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,694 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 265 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Airbus A320 started at Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport in Spain. The taxi from the parking to the runway took 7 minutes and covered 2 nm. The departure was from runway 36L, with a takeoff distance of 6,111 ft, using 55 % of the runway. The liftoff speed was 149 kt, with local weather showing a temperature of 89 °F and wind of 4 kt at 209 °, resulting in a crosswind of 2 kt and a tailwind of 3 kt.
The enroute climb began 2 miles northwest of Paracuellos de Jarama in Spain, climbing from 3,003 ft to 34,200 ft in 18 minutes and covering 111 nm. The level cruise started over La Rioja in Spain and lasted 30 minutes, covering 226 nm. The enroute descent started near Gente in France, descending from 34,020 ft to 15,553 ft in 11 minutes and covering 65 nm. Another level cruise began over Peault in France for 5 minutes, covering 23 nm. The final descent started near Les Lucs-sur-Boulogne in France, descending from 14,624 ft to 552 ft in 14 minutes and covering 19 nm.
The final approach to runway 21 at Nantes Atlantique Airport in France came from the northeast at an altitude of 442 ft. The landing on runway 21 was smooth, with a touchdown distance of 871 ft and a slightly fast touchdown speed of 135 kt. The touchdown rate was fair at -281 ft/m, but the touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 13 ft from the centerline. The total landing distance was 3,101 ft, using 35 % of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
After landing, taxiing from the runway to the parking took 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 451 nm, taking 96 minutes and using 7,573 lbs of fuel. Overall, the flight was completed successfully with minor deviations in landing speed and position.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at LFRS Nantes Atlantique Airport, achieving a high score of 98.1%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north east, heading 210.0° at 1 nautical mile and 442 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on runway 21, which has a length of 2,694 meters.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 140 knots, which may have been due to various factors such as wind resistance or the aircraft's weight. Despite this, the touchdown distance was good at 265 meters, indicating that the aircraft was able to slow down effectively before touching down.
The touchdown speed of 135 knots was a little fast, which may have resulted in a slightly higher touchdown rate of -281 feet per minute (fpm). This is considered fair, but it could be improved upon in future landings. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.0 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's heading or a miscalculation of the approach path.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 14 knots at 260°. The crosswind component was 11 knots, while the headwind component was 8 knots. These conditions may have affected the aircraft's approach and landing, but the pilots were able to compensate effectively.
The total landing distance was 945 meters, which is 35% of the runway length. This is a relatively short distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to slow down effectively and come to a stop quickly. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain its direction and speed after touchdown.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft was able to come to a stop safely and efficiently. However, there are areas for improvement, such as reducing the touchdown speed and improving the touchdown rate.
