See Departure Roll
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: speed above the reference speed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,554 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,554 m of the 2,441 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 566 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A320, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at ENGM Oslo Airport, Gardermoen. This process took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 19R, and the takeoff distance was 1,380 meters, which is 38% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 174 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 6°C temperature and a wind speed of 9 knots at 210 degrees. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the headwind was 9 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile south of Gardermoen and took the aircraft from an altitude of 1,670 feet above sea level to 28,112 feet above sea level, an increase of 26,442 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 108 nautical miles.
The enroute descent began 17 miles southeast of Eidfjord, Norway, and took the aircraft from an altitude of 28,096 feet above sea level to 1,479 feet above sea level, a decrease of 26,617 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 67 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 17 at ENBR Bergen Airport, Flesland, was made from the north, heading 171.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,308 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing took place on runway 17, which has a length of 2,441 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 136 knots. However, the touchdown speed was a little fast at 129 knots, and the touchdown point was 148 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown rate was good at -166 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 4°C temperature and a wind speed of 5 knots at 180 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 5 knots. The total landing distance was 1,472 meters, which is 60% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in 4 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 184 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 49 minutes. The aircraft used 2,141 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at ENBR Bergen Airport, Flesland, with a score of 98.7%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 171.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,308 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with good control, and the aircraft touched down on runway 17, which has a length of 2,441 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, and the threshold speed was maintained at 136 knots, indicating a well-executed approach. However, the touchdown point was 148 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 129 knots was slightly faster than the desired speed, but the touchdown rate of -166 feet per minute (fpm) was good, indicating a controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 4°C and a wind speed of 5 knots from 180°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 5 knots, which likely contributed to the aircraft's stable approach and landing. The total landing distance of 1,472 meters was 60% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll.
The runway rollout alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's skill and control during the landing phase. Overall, the landing was executed with good control and precision, resulting in a high score of 98.7%.
