MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,494 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 333 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A320, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at ENGM Oslo Airport, Gardermoen. This process took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 01L, with the aircraft lifting off at a speed of 174 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 5°C, a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 350°, resulting in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 9 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead Gardermoen. The aircraft ascended from an initial altitude of 1,730 feet above sea level to a maximum altitude of 27,343 feet, an increase of 25,613 feet, in 16 minutes and covering a distance of 97 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise phase began 12 miles north of Dalen, lasting 2 minutes and covering 13 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 7 miles east of Hovden. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 27,199 feet to 9,652 feet, a decrease of 17,547 feet, in 9 minutes and covering a distance of 58 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise phase was initiated again 5 miles east of Hole, lasting 2 minutes and covering 8 nautical miles.
The final descent phase began 2 miles south-east of Oltedal, with the aircraft descending from an altitude of 9,392 feet to 1,310 feet, a decrease of 8,082 feet, in 10 minutes and covering a distance of 14 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 36 at ENZV Stavanger Airport, Sola, from the south, heading 359.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,283 feet above ground level.
The landing took place on runway 36, which had a length of 2,494 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 140 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 331 meters, but the touchdown speed of 134 knots was a little fast. The touchdown rate was very hard at -512 feet per minute, but the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 4°C, a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 350°, resulting in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 8 knots. The total landing distance was 1,140 meters, which was 46% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the aircraft was able to taxi to the parking area in 3 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 205 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 68 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 2,923 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at ENZV Stavanger Airport, Sola, with a score of 90.6%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 359.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,283 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was conducted with a good threshold height, which is a crucial factor in ensuring a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 140 knots, which may have contributed to a slightly faster touchdown speed of 134 knots. However, the touchdown distance of 331 meters was considered good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the landing. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, which is a testament to the pilot's skill and attention to detail.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 4°C and a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 350°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 8 knots, which the pilot effectively managed during the landing. The total landing distance of 1,140 meters was 46% of the runway length, indicating that the pilot maintained a safe and controlled descent.
The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain control of the aircraft during the critical phase of the landing. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the pilot demonstrating a high level of skill and proficiency in managing the aircraft during the approach and landing phases.
