MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,999 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 368 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LSZH Zürich Airport, a process that took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 16, with the aircraft taking off after covering 55% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 1,775 meters, and the liftoff speed was 161 knots.
As the aircraft climbed into the air, it encountered local weather conditions of 4°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots at 70 degrees. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 0 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Opfikon, a town in the Kanton Zurich region of Switzerland, and continued until the aircraft reached a height of 34,580 feet above sea level. This climb phase covered a distance of 129 nautical miles and took 13 minutes, with the aircraft increasing its altitude by 32,185 feet.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile south east of EDEW Walldürn Airfield in Germany. This phase lasted for 58 minutes and covered a distance of 1,169 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 11 miles north west of Bjerkvik in Norway. The descent phase took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 73 nautical miles, with the aircraft decreasing its altitude by 32,454 feet from 34,186 feet to 1,732 feet above sea level.
The final approach to runway 18 at ENTC Tromsø Airport, Langnes, was made from the north, with the aircraft heading 193.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,696 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing took place on a runway with a length of 1,999 meters, and the threshold height was good. The threshold speed was slightly above the target speed at 140 knots, while the touchdown distance was good at 370 meters. The touchdown speed was a little fast at 133 knots, but the touchdown rate was firm at -339 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 6°C temperature and a wind speed of 16 knots at 210 degrees. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 15 knots. The total landing distance was 1,059 meters, which was 53% of the runway's length. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,381 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 93 minutes. The aircraft used 9,532 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at ENTC Tromsø Airport, Langnes, with a score of 98.3%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 193.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,696 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed on runway 18, which has a length of 1,999 meters.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 140 knots, which may have been due to the aircraft's descent rate or the pilot's decision to maintain a higher speed for a smoother touchdown. The touchdown distance of 370 meters was within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's skill in controlling the aircraft's descent.
The touchdown speed of 133 knots was a little fast, which may have resulted in a firmer touchdown rate. The touchdown rate of -339 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, indicating that the aircraft touched down with a significant amount of energy. Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, showing that the pilot had maintained control of the aircraft throughout the approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 6°C and a wind speed of 16 knots from 210°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 15 knots. These conditions presented a moderate challenge for the pilot, but they were able to navigate the aircraft safely to the runway.
The total landing distance of 1,059 meters was 53% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot had maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was executed with precision and skill, and the pilot's performance was commendable.
