Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 7,793 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 358 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Cessna CJ4 Citation, then departed from runway 36R at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (KCLT). The takeoff distance was 121 feet, which accounted for 1% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 145 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 59 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 270 degrees. The crosswind was 2 knots, while the headwind was 0 knots. After departing from KCLT, the aircraft began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile north of the airport and reached an altitude of 24,794 feet above sea level. The climb covered a distance of 41 nautical miles and took 9 minutes, with an increase in altitude of 23,026 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile south of Boyd's Hawks Creek Airport (4NC0) in Mocksville, North Carolina. This phase lasted for 78 minutes and covered a distance of 560 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 4 miles north of Harris Queensbury Airport (83K) in New York. The descent took 17 minutes and covered a distance of 60 nautical miles, with a decrease in altitude of 23,844 feet.
The final approach to runway 33 at Burlington International Airport (KBTV) was made from the southeast, with a heading of 314.0 degrees. The aircraft was at an altitude of 627 feet above ground level (agl) and 2 nautical miles from the runway. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were similar to those encountered during takeoff, with a temperature of 59 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 270 degrees.
The landing on runway 33 at KBTV was completed with a touchdown distance of 354 feet, which was considered good. However, the touchdown speed of 113 knots was too fast, and the touchdown rate was hard at -425 feet per minute. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 48 feet from the centerline. The total landing distance was 2,034 feet, which accounted for 26% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 68 feet from the centerline.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took less than 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 666 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 111 minutes. The aircraft used 2,907 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna CJ4 Citation aircraft successfully landed at KBTV Burlington International Airport, but with some areas for improvement. The final approach was initiated from the southeast, heading 314.0° at 2 nautical miles and 627 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 33, which has a length of 7,793 feet.
Upon review of the landing, it was noted that the threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was too high at 117 knots, suggesting that the pilot may have been able to slow down more before touchdown. The touchdown distance was good at 354 feet, but the touchdown speed of 113 knots was still too fast, indicating that the pilot may have been able to reduce the speed further before touchdown.
The touchdown rate was also hard at -425 feet per minute (fpm), which may have put additional stress on the aircraft's landing gear. Furthermore, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 48 feet from the centreline, which could have made the landing more challenging and may have contributed to the hard touchdown rate.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 59°F and winds of 2 knots at 270°. The crosswind was minimal at 1 knot, and the headwind was 2 knots, which may have helped to stabilize the aircraft during the approach.
The total landing distance was 2,034 feet, which is 26% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, but it may have been possible to reduce it further with more precise control of the aircraft's speed and altitude. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 68 feet from the centreline, which may have made it more difficult for the pilot to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, while the landing was successful, there are several areas where the pilot could improve their technique to achieve a smoother and more controlled landing.
