Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,850 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,850 m of the 4,095 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 237 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A319, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Jackson Hole Airport, taking 7 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. Departure roll took place on runway 19, with the aircraft lifting off at a speed of 140 knots after covering 89% of the runway's length, which was 1,718 meters.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 25°C temperature and a wind speed of 12 knots at 210 degrees. The crosswind was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind was 12 knots. The enroute climb started 2 miles south of Jackson Hole Airport, with the aircraft ascending from 7,374 feet above sea level to 37,332 feet, an increase of 29,958 feet in 19 minutes, covering a distance of 94 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 8 miles southwest of Lander, Wyoming, and lasting 105 minutes. During this phase, the aircraft covered a distance of 699 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 8 miles southwest of Electra, Texas, with the aircraft descending from 38,356 feet to 31,874 feet in 5 minutes, covering 37 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 7 miles northeast of Scotland, Texas, and lasting only 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile. However, this was short-lived, as the aircraft began another descent, this time from 31,874 feet to 12,790 feet in 10 minutes, covering 61 nautical miles.
The aircraft entered another level cruise, this time overhead Sagebrush Airport, Justin, Texas, and lasting 2 minutes, covering 9 nautical miles. The final descent started overhead Northwest Regional Roanoke Airport, with the aircraft descending from 12,500 feet to 2,000 feet in 11 minutes, covering 17 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 35C at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport took place from the south, with the aircraft heading 360 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,403 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 35C was successful, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 130 knots and a distance of 237 meters. However, the touchdown rate was heavy at -675 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 26°C temperature and a wind speed of 11 knots at 170 degrees, with a crosswind of 2 knots and a tailwind of 10 knots. The total landing distance was 1,770 meters, which was 43% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 10.4 meters from the centerline.
The final leg of the flight involved taxiing to the parking area from the runway, taking 12 minutes and covering 2 nautical miles. The total flight distance was 928 nautical miles, taking 170 minutes, and the aircraft used 6,138 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed on runway 35C at KDFW Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, achieving a score of 91.0%. The final approach was initiated from the south, heading 360.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,403 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 130 kt, which was slightly above the target threshold speed of 134 kt. However, the touchdown distance of 237 meters was considered good. The touchdown rate of -675 feet per minute (fpm) was deemed heavy, indicating a steeper descent than desired.
Upon landing, the aircraft's runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 5.0 meters. This deviation was also observed during the runway rollout alignment, where the aircraft was 10.4 meters off-centreline. Despite these minor deviations, the total landing distance of 1,770 meters was within 43% of the runway length, indicating a relatively smooth and controlled landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 26°C and a wind speed of 11 kt from 170°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 kt, while the tailwind component was 10 kt. These conditions likely contributed to the aircraft's performance during the landing. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score despite some minor deviations from the desired parameters.
