Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,528 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,528 m of the 3,352 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 588 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-200ER, then departed from runway 33R at OERK King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The takeoff distance was 1,151 meters, which was 27% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 150 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of the airport, it began its enroute climb, reaching an altitude of 8,996 feet above sea level in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. The climb started overhead the airport and continued for a short period before leveling off. The aircraft then entered a level cruise, flying at a steady altitude for 3 minutes and covering 16 nautical miles.
The next enroute climb began 8 miles north of OE53 King Abdul Aziz Military Academy Airport, where the aircraft climbed from 8,999 feet to 38,158 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 122 nautical miles. This was followed by another long period of level cruise, lasting 133 minutes and covering 898 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another climb, this time from 38,058 feet to 40,047 feet in just 3 minutes, covering 26 nautical miles.
The final level cruise period began 83 miles south of LGKJ Kastelorizo Airport, where the aircraft flew for 195 minutes, covering 1,391 nautical miles. As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent, starting 3 miles north east of Everswinkel, Germany. The descent from 39,711 feet to 1,255 feet took 25 minutes, covering a distance of 113 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 27 at EHAM Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 267.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,250 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with the touchdown point being 164 meters beyond the touchdown zone. However, the touchdown speed was a little fast at 129 knots, and the touchdown rate was fair at -225 feet per minute.
The total landing distance was 1,439 meters, which was 43% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the taxiing to the parking from the runway took just 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 2,585 nautical miles, taking 391 minutes, and the aircraft used 37,706 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 777-200ER aircraft successfully landed at EHAM Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, achieving a score of 94.7%. The final approach to runway 27 was conducted from the east, with a heading of 267.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,250 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway, with a threshold height that was considered good. The threshold speed was also satisfactory at 135 knots. However, the touchdown point was located 164 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating that the aircraft could have been aligned slightly better with the runway during the approach. The touchdown speed of 129 knots was a bit faster than ideal, which may have contributed to the slightly longer landing distance.
The touchdown rate of -225 feet per minute was considered fair, suggesting that the aircraft's descent was not excessively steep. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was well-aligned with the runway during the landing. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 14°C, with a wind speed of 11 knots from a direction of 270°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 10 knots, which likely contributed to the aircraft's ability to land smoothly.
The total landing distance of 1,439 meters was 43% of the available runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively to bring the aircraft to a stop. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating good control and handling during the approach and landing phases.
