MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,660 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 204 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The Airbus A320 then departed from runway 28R at KBOI Boise Air Terminal/Gowen Field, with a takeoff distance of 1,291 meters, which accounted for 43% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 154 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 7°C, with a wind speed of 12 knots at 310°.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northwest of KBOI Boise Air Terminal/Gowen Field. The climb took 7 minutes, during which the aircraft ascended from 3,861 feet above sea level to 23,863 feet, an increase of 20,002 feet. The distance covered during this climb was 15 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then began 11 miles north of 1ID4 Red Baron Airpark Oasis, and lasted for 31 minutes, covering a distance of 183 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 9 miles west of 2UT3 Fort Ranch Airport Brigham City, and took 13 minutes to descend from 23,337 feet to 7,849 feet, a decrease of 15,488 feet. The distance covered during this descent was 53 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute level cruise, this time starting 1 mile west of Magna, and lasting for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles.
The enroute descent then began overhead UT13 Number 18 Airport South Jordan, and took 2 minutes to descend from 7,840 feet to 6,289 feet, a decrease of 1,550 feet. The distance covered during this descent was 3 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute level cruise, this time starting 1 mile west of West Jordan, and lasting for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 34L at KSLC Salt Lake City International Airport was made from the south, with the aircraft heading 355.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,212 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 34L, which had a length of 3,660 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 131 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 203 meters, but the touchdown speed of 128 knots was a little fast. The touchdown rate was firm at -360 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 meters from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 5°C, with a wind speed of 4 knots at 339°. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 4 knots. The total landing distance was 936 meters, which accounted for 26% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
Overall, the flight covered a total distance of 279 nautical miles, and took 65 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 2,195 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at Salt Lake City International Airport (KSLC) on runway 34L, achieving a high score of 97.6%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 355.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,212 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height, which is a critical aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was within the acceptable range at 131 knots. However, the touchdown speed of 128 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have resulted in a firmer touchdown rate of -360 feet per minute (fpm). Despite this, the touchdown distance of 203 meters was considered good.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error. However, the local weather conditions were relatively calm, with a temperature of 5°C and a wind speed of 4 knots at 339°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 4 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during landing.
The total landing distance of 936 meters was 26% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was considered safe and successful, with the pilot achieving a high score despite a few minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters.
