Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,402 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,402 ft of the 11,319 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,868 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in question was operated by an Airbus A320 aircraft. The journey began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile (nm). The aircraft then departed from runway 08 at YPKA Karratha Airport, a small airport located in the State of Western Australia, Australia.
During takeoff, the aircraft lifted off the ground at a speed of 150 knots (kt) and covered a distance of 4,546 feet, which was 61% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 88°F and a wind speed of 9 kt at 358°, resulting in a crosswind of 9 kt and a headwind of 1 kt.
After takeoff, the aircraft began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile east of YPKA Karratha Airport. The climb took 23 minutes and covered a distance of 155 nm, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,020 feet above sea level (asl) to 38,824 ft asl, an increase of 37,803 ft.
The enroute level cruise phase started 12 miles west of YAHD Ashburton Downs Airport Tom Price and lasted 18 minutes, covering a distance of 122 nm. The aircraft then began another climb phase, which started 13 miles northeast of YERO Erong Station Airport Melville. This climb took 2 minutes and covered a distance of 9 nm, during which the aircraft ascended from 39,131 ft asl to 39,825 ft asl, an increase of 695 ft.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 5 miles east of YERO Erong Station Airport Melville and lasted 2 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nm. Another climb phase followed, which started 11 miles southeast of YERO Erong Station Airport Melville. This climb took 2 minutes and covered a distance of 10 nm, during which the aircraft ascended from 39,792 ft asl to 40,700 ft asl, an increase of 908 ft.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 22 miles south of YERO Erong Station Airport Melville and lasted 3 minutes, covering a distance of 21 nm. The enroute descent phase started 12 miles northeast of YMNF Manfred Airport Melville, during which the aircraft descended from 40,749 ft asl to 38,690 ft asl, a decrease of 2,059 ft in 2 minutes.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 8 miles east of YMNF Manfred Airport Melville and lasted 39 minutes, covering a distance of 246 nm. The enroute descent phase started 8 miles west of YBIU Ballidu Airport Wongan Hills, during which the aircraft descended from 38,305 ft asl to 10,799 ft asl, a decrease of 27,505 ft in 10 minutes.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 2 miles northeast of Bindoon and lasted 3 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nm. The enroute descent phase started 4 miles southeast of YBON Bindoon Bindoom, during which the aircraft descended from 10,789 ft asl to 1,331 ft asl, a decrease of 9,457 ft in 10 minutes.
The final approach to runway 21 at YPPH Perth International Airport was made from the north, with the aircraft heading 194.0° at 4 nm and 1,260 ft above ground level (agl). The landing was made on runway 21, which had a length of 11,319 ft. The local weather conditions at
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at YPPH Perth International Airport, achieving a score of 96.8%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the north, heading 194.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,260 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 21, which has a length of 11,319 feet.
The landing was executed with good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 132 knots. However, the touchdown point was slightly beyond the designated touchdown zone, at 491 feet. The touchdown speed of 126 knots was a bit faster than ideal, but the touchdown rate was smooth at -133 feet per minute (fpm). The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was well-aligned with the runway.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 66°F and a wind speed of 11 knots from a direction of 90°. This resulted in a crosswind of 11 knots and a tailwind of 3 knots. The total landing distance was 5,125 feet, which is 45% of the runway length. Although the landing distance was within acceptable limits, it is worth noting that the aircraft could have potentially landed shorter.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment with the runway centerline was slightly off by 25 feet. This minor deviation from the centerline may have been due to various factors, including the aircraft's speed, braking performance, or the pilot's control inputs. Nevertheless, the overall landing performance of the Airbus A320 was satisfactory, and the aircraft was able to come to a stop safely within the designated runway area.
