Improve the takeoff
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,301 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,301 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 336 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from LFBR Aérodrome de Muret - Lherm, the aircraft began its taxiing process from the parking area to the runway, taking approximately 6 minutes to cover a distance of 1 nautical mile. Upon reaching the runway, the departure roll commenced on runway 12, with the aircraft taking off in a distance of 435 meters, which accounted for 39% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was achieved at 70 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the departure airport, it began its enroute climb approximately 1 mile west of Eaunes, rising from an altitude of 1,542 feet above sea level to 1,503 feet above sea level, an increase of 39 feet in less than 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The enroute level cruise phase followed, lasting 38 minutes and covering a distance of 69 nautical miles. The aircraft then commenced its enroute descent approximately 2 miles northeast of Belmont-sur-Rance, descending from 2,795 feet above sea level to 2,339 feet above sea level, a decrease of 456 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 12L at LFIF Saint-Affrique-Belmont Airfield was conducted from the west, with the aircraft aligning perfectly with the runway touchdown zone.
The landing was executed on runway 12L, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 64 knots, which was slightly above the target speed. The touchdown distance was 334 meters, and the touchdown rate was 18 feet per minute, indicating a perfect landing. The total landing distance was 697 meters, accounting for 67% of the runway length. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking less than 1 minute to cover a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 84 nautical miles, with a total flight time of 50 minutes and a fuel consumption of 16 kilograms.
The Cessna Skyhawk touched down on runway 12L at LFIF Saint-Affrique-Belmont Airfield with a satisfactory approach quality, maintaining a steady heading of 115.0° from 2 nautical miles away at an altitude of 461 feet above ground level. The aircraft's descent was well-controlled, allowing for a good threshold height. However, the threshold speed of 70 knots was significantly above the target, indicating a slightly aggressive approach.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed of 64 knots was faster than ideal, resulting in a touchdown rate of 18 feet per minute, which was perfect. The touchdown distance of 334 meters was within acceptable limits, and the runway touchdown alignment was spot on. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 19°C and a headwind of 16 knots, contributed to the smooth touchdown. The crosswind component of 3 knots had a minimal impact on the landing.
The aircraft's rollout was characterized by perfect alignment with the centreline, demonstrating excellent control and coordination. The total landing distance of 697 meters, accounting for 67% of the runway length, was reasonable. Overall, the landing performance of the Cessna Skyhawk at LFIF Saint-Affrique-Belmont Airfield was impressive, earning a score of 99.1%.
