MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,985 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 605 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 4 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 15 at SBCT Afonso Pena Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,368 meters, which accounted for 62% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 143 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 2 knots at 80 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was also 1 knot. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile south east of SBCT Afonso Pena Airport, Curitiba, Brazil. The climb took 28 minutes and covered a distance of 189 nautical miles, with the aircraft ascending from 4,060 feet above sea level to 38,697 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,637 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile north west of Guarulhos, Sao Paulo, Brazil. This phase lasted for 91 minutes and covered a distance of 1,003 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 4 miles south east of Anadia, Alagoas, Brazil. The descent took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 242 nautical miles, with the aircraft descending from 39,004 feet above sea level to 2,017 feet above sea level, a decrease of 36,987 feet.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 8 miles south of Taipu, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. This phase lasted for only 2 minutes and covered a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 12 at SBSG Governador Aluízio Alves International Airport, approaching from the west at a heading of 99.0 degrees. The aircraft was at an altitude of 1,273 feet above ground level and 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing was made on runway 12, which had a length of 2,985 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 134 knots. The touchdown point was 193 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 126 knots, which was good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -204 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 22 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 2 knots at 210 degrees. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the tailwind was 1 knot.
The total landing distance was 1,141 meters, which accounted for 38% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,448 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 144 minutes. The aircraft used 8,173 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at SBSG Governador Aluízio Alves International Airport, achieving a high score of 97.9%. The final approach to runway 12 was conducted from the west, with a heading of 99.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,273 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 134 knots. The touchdown point was located 193 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 126 knots was within acceptable limits, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
However, the touchdown rate of -204 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, suggesting that the aircraft may have experienced a slightly higher-than-desired rate of descent during the final stages of the approach. Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 22°C and a gentle wind of 2 knots from a direction of 210°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, and the tailwind component was even weaker at 1 knot. These conditions likely contributed to the smooth and controlled nature of the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,141 meters was 38% of the available runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was a success, with the aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating a high level of proficiency in terms of speed, alignment, and distance.
