MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,611 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 319 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A320-ceo departed Logan International Airport (KBOS) on runway 04R. The take-off roll was 1,109 m, representing 41 % of the runway, and rotation occurred at 146 kt. Local weather was 11 °C with a wind of 23 kt from 310°, giving a 22 kt cross-wind component and an 8 kt head-wind component.
Initial climb to 1,000 ft agl took 20 seconds, averaging 2,164 fpm and reaching 160 kt at the top of the climb. The aircraft then climbed from 1,021 ft asl to 38,907 ft asl in 20 minutes, covering 151 nm and passing overhead Winthrop. Cruise was maintained at 39,400 ft asl for 281 minutes, covering 2,475 nm, beginning 21 nm south-east of ME5 Banks Airport (Swans Island). Descent began from 39,040 ft asl to 1,608 ft asl in 23 minutes, covering 116 nm, starting 20 nm east of Loughshinny.
During final approach to runway 05L at Manchester Airport (EGCC), descent from 1,434 ft agl to 62 ft agl was completed in 122 seconds. Stabilisation checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway were all met: gear down, landing flap, sink rate, glideslope, centreline, speed, and wings level. The landing gear was lowered at 2,224 ft agl at 164 kt; the final flap position 5 was selected at 1,723 ft agl at 132 kt.
The aircraft touched down on runway 05L, whose length is 2,611 m. Threshold speed was slightly above target at 124 kt. The flare was described as good, with little round-out. Touchdown occurred 319 m from the threshold at 120 kt, a little fast, with a firm rate of -325 fpm. Alignment on touchdown and during rollout was very good and later perfect. No bounce occurred. Total landing distance was 1,177 m, representing 45 % of the runway.
Local weather at Manchester was 9 °C with a wind of 4 kt from 050°, giving a 0 kt cross-wind component and a 4 kt head-wind component. After landing, taxiing to the parking area took 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nm.
The flight covered a total of 2,750 nm in 338 minutes and used 10,656 kg of fuel.
