MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Smooth the climb
Pull to 15 degrees at one rate and you get a clean liftoff, pull to the same 15 degrees at twice the rate and you get an overshoot, a push, and an oscillation through the first few hundred feet. The type-general rule of thumb is a rotation rate of about 2 to 3 degrees per second, which means roughly five to seven seconds from starting the pull to reaching the initial climb attitude of around 15 degrees nose-up. Count it out loud during your next takeoff and you will almost certainly discover you have been rotating in two seconds flat.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,803 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,803 m of the 4,265 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 591 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A320, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (KMSP). This process took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 12L, with the aircraft taking off after covering 58% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 1,407 meters, and the liftoff speed was 148 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 22°C temperature and winds of 11 knots at 70°. The crosswind component was 9 knots, while the headwind component was 7 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile east of KMSP and continued for 14 minutes, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,619 feet above sea level to 36,890 feet above sea level, covering a distance of 129 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 3 miles north of Chokio, Minnesota. This phase lasted for 27 minutes and covered a distance of 686 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, which started 11 miles northeast of Vauxhall, Alberta, Canada. The descent took 20 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from 35,109 feet above sea level to 4,820 feet above sea level, covering a distance of 96 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 35R at Calgary International Airport (CYYC) was made from the south, with the aircraft heading 360° at 4 nautical miles and 1,252 feet above ground level. The landing took place on a runway with a length of 4,265 meters, and the threshold height was good. The threshold speed was also good at 139 knots. However, the touchdown point was 178 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 131 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -232 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.4 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.6 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 21°C temperature and winds of 21 knots at 280°, with a crosswind component of 21 knots and a headwind component of 4 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,725 meters, which was 40% of the runway's length. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 919 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 70 minutes. The aircraft used 6,124 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed on runway 35R at Calgary International Airport (CYYC) with a score of 94.5%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the south, heading 360.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,252 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height and speed, touching down at 139 knots.
However, the touchdown point was 178 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating that the pilot may have slightly overextended the landing. The touchdown speed of 131 knots was also a bit faster than ideal, which could have contributed to the extended landing distance. The touchdown rate of -232 feet per minute (fpm) was fair, but not exceptional.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were moderate, with a temperature of 21°C and a wind speed of 21 knots from 280°. This resulted in a crosswind of 21 knots and a headwind of 4 knots. Despite these conditions, the pilot managed to maintain control of the aircraft and bring it to a safe stop.
The total landing distance of 1,725 meters was 40% of the available runway length, which is a relatively short distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.6 meters from the centerline, indicating that the pilot may have had some difficulty maintaining a straight course during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some areas for improvement. The pilot could have benefited from a more precise touchdown point and a slower touchdown speed to reduce the landing distance. Additionally, the pilot could have worked to maintain a straighter course during the rollout phase to avoid the slight misalignment.
