Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 500 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed and off the runway's 3° glideslope.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,881 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,881 m of the 2,295 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 778 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in question was operated by a Boeing 777-300 aircraft. The aircraft began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 12 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 30L at Dubai International Airport (OMDB), with a takeoff distance of 2,300 meters, which is 64% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 185 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to its initial cruising altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 25°C temperature and a wind speed of 24 knots at 0°. The crosswind was 20 knots, and the headwind was 12 knots. The enroute climb started approximately 1 mile northwest of Dubai International Airport, where the aircraft climbed from 1,023 feet above sea level to 30,320 feet above sea level, an increase of 29,297 feet in 17 minutes, covering a distance of 92 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, which started 41 miles northwest of Sir Abu Nu'ayr Airport (OMSN). This phase lasted for 56 minutes and covered a distance of 390 nautical miles. The aircraft continued to climb and level off at various points, including 10 miles north of Al Jahra' (Kuwait), 5 miles southeast of Udairi Army Air Field (Kuwait), 1 mile west of Varvara (Greece), and 45 miles west of Areosa (Portugal). Each of these climbs and level off phases was brief, lasting only 2 minutes, and covered a short distance of around 12 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a prolonged level cruise phase, which started overhead Peristerona (Greece) and lasted for 200 minutes, covering a distance of 1,492 nautical miles. This phase was followed by another climb and level off phase, which started 57 miles west of Areosa (Portugal) and lasted for 228 minutes, covering a distance of 1,519 nautical miles.
The aircraft continued to climb and level off at various points, including Latitude: 32.1481455 Longitude: -39.6767093 and Latitude: 32.0408408 Longitude: -39.9111248. The final climb phase started approximately 115 miles northeast of Saint Barthélemy - Rémy de Haenen Airport (TFFJ), where the aircraft descended from 39,221 feet above sea level to 1,312 feet above sea level, a decrease of 37,909 feet in 24 minutes, covering a distance of 126 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 10 at Princess Juliana International Airport (TNCM) was made from the west, with a heading of 82.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,279 feet above ground level. The aircraft landed on the runway, which was 2,295 meters long, with a threshold speed that was slightly above the target speed of 144 knots. The touchdown point was 360 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 142 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -218 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 11.0 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.5 meters from the centerline. The total landing distance was 1,799 meters, which is 78% of the runway length. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, a process that took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 6,403 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 912 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 120,013 kilograms of
The Boeing 777-300 aircraft successfully landed at TNCM Princess Juliana International Airport, but with some minor deviations from the ideal landing performance. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the west, heading 82.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,279 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was slightly above the target threshold speed of 144 kt, registering at 144 kt. However, the touchdown speed of 142 kt was a bit faster than desired, which may have contributed to a slightly higher touchdown rate of -218 fpm. The touchdown point was 360 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which indicates that the aircraft may have landed a bit farther down the runway than intended.
The runway touchdown position was also misaligned by 11.0 meters from the centerline, which may have resulted in a slightly uneven rollout. The runway rollout alignment was similarly misaligned by 10.5 meters from the centerline, which could have affected the aircraft's ability to maintain a straight path during the rollout phase.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 25°C and a moderate wind of 13 kt at 60°. The crosswind component was relatively light at 5 kt, while the headwind component was 12 kt, which may have contributed to the aircraft's slightly faster touchdown speed.
In terms of the overall landing performance, the Boeing 777-300 aircraft scored 83.3%, indicating a good but not exceptional landing. The total landing distance of 1,799 meters was 78% of the available runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. Overall, while the landing was not perfect, it was still a safe and successful operation.
