MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,494 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 502 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at ENGM Oslo Airport, Gardermoen. This process took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 01R, with a takeoff distance of 998 meters, which accounted for 34% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 159 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of 13°C temperature and winds of 19 knots at 239 degrees. The crosswind was 13 knots, while the tailwind was 14 knots. After departing from Gardermoen, the enroute climb started 1 mile south east of the airport, with the aircraft ascending from 1,694 feet above sea level to 26,692 feet above sea level, an increase of 24,997 feet in 15 minutes, covering a distance of 80 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 4 miles south of Rjukan, lasting 5 minutes and covering 44 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 8 miles south west of Hovden, descending from 26,682 feet above sea level to 9,615 feet above sea level, a decrease of 17,067 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 48 nautical miles. Another enroute level cruise started 2 miles east of Oltedal, lasting 2 minutes and covering 7 nautical miles.
The final enroute descent began 5 miles north of Vikesa, with the aircraft descending from 9,393 feet above sea level to 1,314 feet above sea level, a decrease of 8,079 feet in 9 minutes, covering a distance of 15 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 36 at ENZV Stavanger Airport, Sola, from the south, heading 359.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,290 feet above ground level.
However, the aircraft performed a go-around at 333 feet above ground level. The aircraft then landed on runway 36, with a runway length of 2,494 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 132 knots. The touchdown point was 81 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 123 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was smooth at -146 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 11°C temperature and winds of 20 knots at 300 degrees. The crosswind was 17 knots, while the headwind was 10 knots. The total landing distance was 935 meters, which accounted for 37% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The aircraft then taxiied to the parking area from the runway, taking 3 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 208 nautical miles, taking 67 minutes, and the aircraft used 2,723 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at ENZV Stavanger Airport, Sola, with a near-perfect score of 99.9%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 359.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,290 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft touched down on runway 36, which has a length of 2,494 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 132 knots. This minor deviation did not significantly impact the overall landing performance. The touchdown point was 81 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 123 knots was a bit faster than desired, but the touchdown rate of -146 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 11°C and a wind speed of 20 knots from 300°. This resulted in a crosswind of 17 knots and a headwind of 10 knots. Despite these conditions, the aircraft maintained a very good runway touchdown alignment, which is a testament to the pilot's skill and experience.
The total landing distance of 935 meters was 37% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, with the aircraft maintaining a straight and stable path after touchdown. Overall, the landing was executed with precision and control, and the aircraft came to a stop in a safe and efficient manner.
