Work on the flare
See Arrival Landing
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed, off the runway's 3° glideslope and speed above the reference speed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,807 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 760 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 04L at EBLG Liège Airport, where the Airbus A380 took off with a takeoff distance of 2,230 meters, which was 96% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 166 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 14°C, with a wind speed of 12 knots at 199 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 5 knots and a tailwind of 11 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it started its enroute climb from 1,556 feet above sea level (asl) to 18,577 feet asl, an increase of 17,021 feet in just 8 minutes, covering a distance of 11 nautical miles. The climb continued from various points, including overhead Awans in Wallonia, Belgium, and Rijkhoven in Flanders, Belgium. The aircraft then leveled off at 18,731 feet asl for 26 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile.
The enroute climb resumed from Rijkhoven, reaching an altitude of 20,752 feet asl, an increase of 2,021 feet in 2 minutes, covering 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from 20,791 feet asl to 18,873 feet asl, a decrease of 1,918 feet in 2 minutes, covering 10 nautical miles. The climb continued from various points, including 1 mile east of Vilt in the Netherlands, where the aircraft reached an altitude of 37,325 feet asl, an increase of 18,419 feet in 13 minutes, covering 76 nautical miles.
The aircraft then leveled off at various points, including overhead Hyon in Wallonia, Belgium, and Juvincourt-et-Damary in Hauts-de-France, France. The enroute descent started from 1 mile south east of Colleret in Hauts-de-France, France, where the aircraft descended from 37,596 feet asl to 17,466 feet asl, a decrease of 20,130 feet in 6 minutes, covering 47 nautical miles.
The final descent started from 2 miles south west of Arcis-le-Ponsart in Grand Est, France, where the aircraft descended from 17,493 feet asl to 2,721 feet asl, a decrease of 14,772 feet in 12 minutes, covering 36 nautical miles. The aircraft then climbed from 2,620 feet asl to 3,266 feet asl, an increase of 646 feet in 2 minutes, covering 4 nautical miles, before beginning its final descent from 3,453 feet asl to 2,101 feet asl, a decrease of 1,352 feet in 2 minutes, covering 5 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 27 at LFPB Paris-Le Bourget Airport was from the east, with a heading of 270.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,758 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was successful, with the touchdown point being 336 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 143 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was firm at -304 feet per minute (fpm). The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 13°C, with a wind speed of 5 knots at 230°, resulting in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 4 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,414 meters, which was 78% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also very good. The total flight distance was 232 nautical
The Airbus A380 has successfully landed at LFPB Paris-Le Bourget Airport, achieving an overall score of 80.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 270.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,758 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was executed on runway 27, which has a length of 1,807 meters.
Upon reaching the threshold, the aircraft's height was significantly above the target, indicating a slight delay in the descent. However, the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 146 knots, suggesting a controlled approach. The touchdown point was located 336 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively safe distance considering the runway length.
The touchdown speed of 143 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -304 feet per minute (fpm) was firm but not excessive. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 13°C and a gentle wind of 5 knots at 230°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the approach.
The total landing distance of 1,414 meters was 78% of the runway length, which is a relatively efficient use of the available runway. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was executed safely and efficiently, with the aircraft achieving a good touchdown speed and a firm touchdown rate. However, the significant height above the threshold and the slightly below-target threshold speed suggest that there is room for improvement in the approach phase.
