Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,312 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 339 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a P180, then departed from runway 15 at Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport, with a takeoff distance of 1,242 meters, which was 56% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 132 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb 1 mile south of Ciampino, rising from 992 feet above sea level to 12,727 feet, an increase of 11,735 feet in just 7 minutes, covering a distance of 17 nautical miles. The local weather conditions at the time were a temperature of 22°C and a wind speed of 12 knots at 229°.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, starting overhead Rome–Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering 12 nautical miles. The aircraft continued to climb, starting 1 mile northeast of Campo di Volo Sangermano Valcanneto, rising from 13,490 feet to 14,036 feet, an increase of 546 feet in 2 minutes, covering 6 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting overhead Manziana, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 6 nautical miles. The aircraft continued to climb, starting overhead Vejano, rising from 14,478 feet to 17,932 feet, an increase of 3,455 feet in 3 minutes, covering 12 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, starting 1 mile west of Viterbo Airport, and lasted for 25 minutes, covering 132 nautical miles. As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent, starting 2 miles west of Argenta, descending from 18,005 feet to 11,117 feet, a decrease of 6,888 feet in 5 minutes, covering 26 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 1 mile east of Corbola, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 6 nautical miles. The aircraft continued its descent, starting 2 miles southwest of Cavarzere, descending from 11,063 feet to 3,185 feet, a decrease of 7,877 feet in 12 minutes, covering 13 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 1 mile east of Corte, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 3 nautical miles. The aircraft continued its descent, starting 3 miles east of Campagna Lupia, descending from 2,874 feet to 1,286 feet, a decrease of 1,588 feet in 3 minutes, covering 7 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 04R at Venice Marco Polo Airport was made from the southwest, with a heading of 42.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,272 feet above ground level. The landing was made on the runway, with a touchdown distance of 341 meters, which was good. The touchdown speed was 124 knots, which was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was heavy at -602 feet per minute.
The total landing distance was 909 meters, which was 27% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 17.2 meters from the centerline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 249 nautical miles, taking 80 minutes, and the aircraft used 485 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft, FFX P180 03 01, successfully landed on runway 04R at LIPZ Venice Marco Polo Airport with a score of 85.1%. The final approach was initiated from the south-west, heading 42.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,272 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on the runway, which has a length of 3,312 meters.
The threshold height at 72 feet agl was well above the target, indicating that the aircraft had sufficient clearance to safely touch down on the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 125 knots, which may have contributed to a slightly faster touchdown speed. The touchdown distance of 341 meters was considered good, but the touchdown speed of 124 knots was a little fast, which could have put additional stress on the aircraft's landing gear.
The touchdown rate was heavy at -602 feet per minute (fpm), which may indicate that the aircraft was experiencing a high rate of descent during the landing. Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 21°C and a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 110°. The crosswind component was 8 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots. These conditions may have contributed to the slightly faster touchdown speed and the heavy touchdown rate.
The total landing distance of 909 meters was 27% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 17.2 meters from the centerline, which may indicate that the aircraft was not properly aligned with the runway centerline during the rollout phase of the landing.
