Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,170 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 781 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took approximately 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Beechcraft Duke, then departed from runway 27 at VTSP Phuket International Airport. The takeoff distance was 470 meters, which accounted for 16% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 98 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 29 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 13 knots at 254 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead VTSP Phuket International Airport. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 1,029 feet above sea level to 20,954 feet above sea level, an increase of 19,924 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 47 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise phase of the flight began 22 miles northeast of Ban Khao Lak, Thailand, and lasted for 70 minutes, covering a distance of 299 nautical miles. Following this, the aircraft started its enroute descent, which began 1 mile east of Samut Sakhon, Thailand. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 20,988 feet above sea level to 1,271 feet above sea level, a decrease of 19,717 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 33 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 21L at VTBD Don Mueang International Airport was made from the northeast, heading 209.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,257 feet above ground level. The landing was executed on runway 21L, which had a length of 3,170 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 101 knots.
The touchdown point was 384 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 84 knots and an excellent touchdown rate of -87 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 34 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 8 knots at 210 degrees.
The total landing distance was 1,146 meters, which accounted for 36% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also very good. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took approximately 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 386 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 118 minutes. The aircraft used 413 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Beechcraft Duke aircraft successfully landed at VTBD Don Mueang International Airport, achieving a score of 94.8%. The final approach to runway 21L was initiated from the north east, with a heading of 209.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,257 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway, with the threshold height being satisfactory. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 100 kt, registering at 101 kt. The touchdown point was located 384 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively safe distance.
The touchdown speed of 84 kt was within the acceptable range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -87 feet per minute (fpm) was also excellent, demonstrating a well-executed landing. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained a stable and aligned approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 34°C and a wind speed of 8 kt from a direction of 210°. This resulted in a crosswind of 0 kt and a headwind of 8 kt, which did not significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,146 meters was 36% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained control and stability during the rollout phase.
Overall, the Beechcraft Duke aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency and control during the landing, achieving a score of 94.8%. The pilot's ability to navigate the aircraft through the final approach and landing phases was impressive, considering the challenging weather conditions.
