Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 551 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 551 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 239 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Vision Jet taxiing from the parking area to the runway at KCDW Essex County Airport, taking approximately 4 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 04, with the aircraft lifting off at a speed of 114 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 5°C, with no wind at all.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile west of Singac, New Jersey. The climb was a steep one, with the aircraft rising from 972 feet above sea level to 4,895 feet in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles. This impressive climb was a testament to the Vision Jet's capabilities.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 1 mile north of East Hanover, New Jersey. This cruise phase lasted for 41 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 140 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 1 mile east of PS25 Captain's Folly Airport in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The descent was a controlled one, with the aircraft dropping from 4,845 feet to 1,421 feet in just 4 minutes, covering a distance of 11 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 1 mile south-east of 3PN2 Karlindo Airport in Fairfield, Pennsylvania. This cruise phase lasted for 7 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 33 at W73 Mid Atlantic Soaring Center Airport was made from the south-east, with the aircraft heading 324.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 832 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 33 was a good one, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 77 knots. However, the touchdown speed was slightly faster than ideal, and the touchdown rate was excellent at -66 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned. The total landing distance was 496 meters, which was 90% of the runway length.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 10°C, with a wind of 13 knots at 275°. The crosswind was 10 knots, and the headwind was 9 knots. The total flight distance was 164 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 65 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 267 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Vision Jet aircraft successfully landed at W73 Mid Atlantic Soaring Center Airport, but with some areas for improvement. The final approach was initiated from the southeast, heading 324.0° at 4 nautical miles and 832 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 33, which has a length of 551 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, but the threshold speed was too high at 86 knots. This indicates that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to reduce the touchdown speed. The touchdown distance was good at 238 meters, but the touchdown speed of 77 knots was faster than ideal. A lower touchdown speed would have resulted in a more controlled descent and reduced the risk of damage to the aircraft.
The touchdown rate was excellent at -66 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a smooth and controlled touchdown. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.7 meters from the centerline. This may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the final approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 10°C, with a wind speed of 13 knots from 275°. The crosswind component was 10 knots, while the headwind component was 9 knots. These conditions may have contributed to the slightly misaligned touchdown and rollout.
The total landing distance was 496 meters, which is 90% of the runway length. This indicates that the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a stop within a reasonable distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 9.3 meters from the centerline. This may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the rollout.
Overall, the Vision Jet aircraft landed safely at W73 Mid Atlantic Soaring Center Airport, but with some areas for improvement. The pilot may benefit from additional training to improve their flare technique and alignment during the final approach and rollout.
