See Departure Roll
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
At the 500 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 546 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 546 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 85 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking to the runway at Lieutenant Étienne Mantoux Air Base, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 01, taking off with a takeoff distance of 578 meters, which was 34% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 104 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 13 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 10 knots at a direction of 52 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 7 knots and a headwind of 8 knots. The aircraft climbed to an altitude of 21,181 feet above sea level, an increase of 19,406 feet from the initial altitude of 1,775 feet, in 13 minutes and covering a distance of 40 nautical miles.
The enroute climb started over Rouvres-en-Woëvre, and the aircraft continued to climb to a higher altitude. The enroute level cruise started over Laneuveville-devant-Nancy, lasting 11 minutes and covering a distance of 57 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 1 mile west of Sewen, and descended from 20,836 feet to 4,539 feet in 16 minutes and covering a distance of 71 nautical miles.
The enroute climb started again over Amsoldingen, with the aircraft climbing from 4,589 feet to 5,210 feet in 2 minutes and covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. The enroute descent started over Erlenbach im Simmental, with the aircraft descending from 5,219 feet to 4,002 feet in 2 minutes and covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started 1 mile south west of Wimmis, lasting 2 minutes and covering a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 22 at Reichenbach Air Base was from the north east, with the aircraft heading 217.0 degrees at an altitude of 713 feet above ground level and a distance of 2 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 22, which had a length of 546 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was too high at 86 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 84 meters, and the touchdown speed was 83 knots, which was fast. The touchdown rate was smooth at -126 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 13 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 4 knots at a direction of 2 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a tailwind of 4 knots.
The total landing distance was 309 meters, which was 57% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The aircraft then taxied to the parking from the runway, which took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 184 nautical miles, and the flight used -15 kilograms of fuel.
The Vision Jet successfully completed a landing at LSGR Reichenbach Air Base, achieving a high score of 98.3%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north east, heading 217.0° at 2 nautical miles and 713 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was executed on runway 22, which has a length of 546 meters.
The pilot demonstrated good control during the final approach, maintaining a smooth touchdown rate of -126 feet per minute (fpm). However, there was a slight issue with the threshold speed, which was recorded at 86 knots, exceeding the recommended threshold speed. This may have been due to the aircraft's high approach speed or the pilot's decision to flare later than expected.
Despite the high threshold speed, the touchdown distance was satisfactory at 84 meters, and the aircraft landed within the designated area. The touchdown speed of 83 knots was slightly faster than recommended, but the pilot managed to maintain a smooth touchdown rate, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 13°C and a gentle wind of 4 knots at 2°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, and the tailwind component was 4 knots, which may have contributed to the high threshold speed. The total landing distance of 309 meters was 57% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft landed within a reasonable distance.
The runway rollout alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's excellent control and coordination during the landing. Overall, the Vision Jet's landing at LSGR Reichenbach Air Base was a success, with the pilot demonstrating good control and a high level of proficiency.
