MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
There are several things that can go wrong during the flare, carrying too much speed over the threshold, starting the flare at the wrong height and inconsistent flight control inputs, all contribute to a poor flare resulting in a hard touchdown or a float down the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,742 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 275 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport, the Airbus A321 began its takeoff roll on runway 13L, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 153 kt in 861 meters, which represented 23% of the available runway length. The aircraft then transitioned into a steady climb, ascending from 1,398 feet above sea level to 5,077 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. This initial climb phase was characterized by a significant rate of ascent, with an increase of 3,679 feet in a short period.
As the aircraft continued on its route, it leveled off at 5,077 feet and entered a 5-minute cruise phase, during which it covered 18 nautical miles. The subsequent descent phase began 1 mile south east of Pilis, with the aircraft losing 3,398 feet in altitude over a period of 4 minutes, while covering 11 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 31R at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport was initiated from a position 4 nautical miles from the threshold, with the aircraft descending from 5,215 feet to 1,817 feet above ground level. The landing was executed with a threshold speed of 117 kt and a touchdown speed of 111 kt, resulting in a touchdown distance of 272 meters.
The aircraft touched down on runway 31R, which had a length of 3,701 meters, with a runway touchdown position that was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 8.1 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 7 °C and a wind speed of 4 kt from a direction of 10 °, resulting in a crosswind component of 4 kt and a headwind component of 2 kt. The flight, which covered a total distance of 37 nautical miles, utilized 9,560 kg of fuel and lasted for 12 minutes.
The aircraft, an Airbus A321, commenced its final approach to runway 31R at LHBP Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport from the south east, aligning with the runway at a heading of 313.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,360 feet above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 117 knots, indicating a well-executed approach. The aircraft touched down on the runway at a speed of 111 knots, which was within the acceptable range.
The touchdown characteristics were generally good, with a touchdown distance of 272 meters, indicating a controlled descent. However, the touchdown rate was hard at -444 feet per minute, suggesting a slightly aggressive approach. The runway touchdown position was not perfectly aligned with the centreline, being 8.1 meters off-centre. This minor deviation from the centreline did not significantly impact the overall landing performance.
Following touchdown, the aircraft began its rollout, navigating the 3,701-meter runway with a controlled deceleration. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 7°C and a gentle wind of 4 knots at 10°, contributed to a relatively smooth rollout. Overall, the landing performance was satisfactory, with a score of 95.9%, indicating a well-executed approach and touchdown, albeit with some minor deviations from the ideal.
